I saw a post here that said use thick craft paper and wood glue. Wouldnt it be better to use a wood shim? And is there a step by step guide anywhere on this site with pics? Thanks ahead of time

It would be better to use a thin piece of wood if you have it. Just cut a narrow piece about an inch long, apply a little wood glue to the inside of the saya on the mune and a little on the shim, and then press it into the V. once it's dry, you can sand it lightly with a needle file until the fit is tight enough.

I always first check whether it's the mune or ha side that has the most damage. Sometimes it's the mune side I fill up, most cases it's actually the ha-side...
