Gold mountain forge is a high end custom katana brand. www.goldmountainforge.com/Store/sword.html They are highly regarded and produce some beautiful sword. Though for that price, I'll probably go get a rick barrett l6 blade but that's just me.

$6795 and the habaki looks like THAT? The tsukamaki doesn't impress me either.

I would be willing to bet money that the habaki on the 6800 dollar sword doesn't have the huge gap that the picture makes it look like. It's gotta be an optical illusion from the highly reflective polish on the blade or something. The habaki on my $250 sword has a nice fit with no gaps, and I find it hard to believe that a custom smith with Goldberg's rep would let one go out with a huge gap like that.

That's from their own web page, "optical illusion from the highly reflective polish on the blade" - are you going for a job interview with them ? there are two pictures that show the habaki on their web page. Be a little realistic.

"are you going for a job interview with them"
This coming from the guy who thinks he has found evidence of fraud because he couldn't find a name that he assumes they are licensed under in a registery that they are not required to belong to. Be a little realistic.

You don't live in Aussie, I do, I did not mention fraud, You don't HAVE to have an ABN number, in the same way that you don't have to walk on the "sidewalk" - you DO have to register your business and no bank will open a business account without an ABN.
If someone claims to have a forge in Queensland called "Skyjiro" and none exist currently or in the last 10 years (as far back as I researched) do you simply pass it off as false advertising (a LIE) but believe the rest of the page ?
Do you understand the term - gullible - ? Gullibility is a failure of social intelligence in which a person is easily tricked or manipulated into an ill-advised course of action.
No one has said "DON"T BUY THAT SWORD!" - what everyone is saying is you should be extra cautious, not everything is above board, maybe David is a wonderful guy! but at the end of the day the sword you are going to buy is made in China by young Chinese workers getting paid a few dollars a day.

Dude you literally have nothing. I could find nowhere where they claim they are still operating a forge in queensland. In fact their website seems pretty clear that in 2001 they moved their forging to a forge in China. As for the abn number, just living in auztralia doesnt mean you know anything about running a business there. Do you? Do you own or operate your own business? I would submit that you don't even know what business name they could be registered under. Did you know there is a Sky International trading registered in 2004? Is it them? I don't know. Maybe. But I doubt you do either.
And lol at your condecension! Defining gullible. Get out of here with that nonsense!
*shrug* Let me know when you've actually got something. I'll be happy to rip them up then, just like I did on every thread where they posted fake reviews.

Search for "Skyjiro" previous, current and pending. You have received a nil result for this search. You may need to consider additional searches using prefixes, parts of words, suffixes and/or variations in spelling to establish that no similar trade marks exist that would form a barrier to registration.
After several searches and a few emails to people who have been hammering hot metal for 20, 30, 40 or more years no such forge is known.

And you are sure their ABN number would be under the name Skyjiro? They didn't initially register under a different name before their association with Skyjiro? They don't operate a different business that they simply include the selling of Skyjiro swords a part of? There is an easy way to find out, of course. You're in Australia, call Leo to ask him these questions.
"After several searches and a few emails to people who have been hammering hot metal for 20, 30, 40 or more years no such forge is known."
Who? Regardless, they are not, as far as I see, claiming to have a forge in Australia at this time.
"You simply cannot do this in China -"
Source for claim that you cannot buy a business in China? I mean, not even Chinese people?
"Did, now retired -"
Cool. What was it?

Pretty cool, man. So then, let me ask you a question. Here in the states, I have my business registered under a certain name, and have a Tax ID number. However, that's not the name I sell under on ebay. Nor is it the name I'm planning to put on a website, when I eventually get one. Can the same situation exist with an ABN number in Aus? Also, my suggestion that you call Leo wasn't meant as a snarky comment. I think all of us here would love it if you gave him a call and got some answers.

Here we have a system loosely based on the English system, we have a "Goods and Services Tax" 10% on just about everything, condoms to cars - this, along with the ABN - ABN registration is not mandatory. A business can trade without an ABN, but the businesses it deals with are required to withhold (and remit to us) an amount equal to 46.5% of the amount of the payment if an ABN is not quoted. www.ato.gov.au/businesses/conten ... /57752.htm The idea was to curtail the "black economy" - ie direct cash payment for services and/or goods - you can imagine paying for 100 sacks of flour but you only receive 53 1/2 while the rest goes direct to the tax man. "Leo wasn't meant as a snarky comment. I think all of us here would love it if you gave him a call and got some answers." let me do some checking ....
