One of the swords used by Rohan in the Lord of the Rings movies, the one with a guard made out of two dragons in a heart form, used by Theoden, or a similar. They look kind of like a cross between a viking sword and a baskethilt sword. I don't like the Glamring as used in the films, but the swords used by Feanor's sons in the book, said to glow red as opposed to the blue of Glamring etc. Feanor was supposedly either the most powerful elf ever, with superiority in every trait there is except perhaps benevolence, or the greatest craftsman ever to exist in the tolkien world, or both. Either way, I'd assume the swords created by the greatest elf, despite not being his masterworks, to be pretty good . The sword called Gram, meaning wrath in Old Norse, that Siegfried used to kill a dragon and attain immortality in Germanic Mythology, would be pretty cool too. Since I assume this predates the viking sword (which was based on the spatha far later), it would be interesting to see what kind of sword the legend originally refered to. Something like a langseax?

Feanor was, without doubt, the greatest craftsman Ever of any of the races. As for the greatest in other skills, well, he wasn't the one who wounded Morgawr 7 times...

While his feats might be pretty small bar craftsmanship, he is atleast somewhere described as the greatest elf, though that might've been something written by an editor rather than Tolkien himself. Anyways, let's not humiliate ourselves by going into an indepth discussion about Tolkien.

A functional version of the Sword of the Witchking of Angmar. A big antique two-hander with the most wicked and ancient furniture...

I've seen one but not one of the really nice ones. I love the narnian props, someone needs to make them into real weapons.

How about Wyrmslayer, sword of Kith-Kanan from the Dragonlance series? That is one I've considered making for myself. I've got some good ideas for design.
One could also create (or have created), the 17 great weapons from the Taltos series. Along with Spellbreaker of course. That's another set I've considered making for myself.
Or possibly the Sword of Shannara.
Or Daystar Clarion, and Kirsdarkenvar...
Or...Prester John's sword Memory, along with Thorn, and Sorrow (which would HAVE to be a mokume laminate forge folded blade).
Or...how about...and I'm making you guys dig deep here...Morgaine's Changeling.
Perrin's Hammer and Axe.
Faile's daggers.
And oh yeah, Matt's naginata (which my little shortened katana over in the maker's section escaped becoming by the narrowest of margines lol).
Gonji's Sagami.
Kincaid, the Sword of Ogma, as wielded by Felimid Mac Fal...
Bet I could go on for hours in this vein lol...all with swords that, to my knowledge...have never been produced.
=D

i would love to some one make WYRMSLAYER ;D Yeah, for some reason I'm picturing it much like the Father's sword from Conan...with a few main differences...such as perhaps a bit narrower blade (with the same gorgeous curve to the tip), dragon skull or dragon head mount...but in a similar style, meaning streamlined yet detailed carving that accentuates the lines of the blade, and a similar curved yet narrow and simple guard. There would have to be real and definite differences in order to make one not think 'Hey, that's a Conan copy!' at first glance. Part of the reason I suppose that I haven't began working on the design. Cris

that sounds pretty cool , but ya you dont want it to look tomuch like conans fathers sword Yeah, I know lol. It's probably something I linked as a kid. I read the first Dragonlance book at about 10yrs old...like the end of 1984 if I recall (I remember laying in bed late at night reading while my cassette tape player I got for my 10th birthday played Ratt, Out of the Cellar, to be switched immediately on ending with Motley Crue, Shout at the Devil...which my mom very nearly didn't let my Uncle give me due to the 'Satanic' connotations it had back then lol)...and it wasn't too long before that that I'd seen Conan I'm sure...so that's probably where it comes from lol. Amazing how things that happened over 20yrs ago can still affect your thought processes now. Cris

FYI in case you didn't already know, the cross on the Conan Father's sword is supposed to represent an Irish elk skull.

Yeah, that's what I meant by different in the dragon thing...but in a similar style. One of these days, when my forged blades match the quality of your carvings lol, we're going to be doing some work together =). Cris

I think I just fell in love with you... I would absolutly collect all 17 great weapons if ever there was a way to do so... to be able to MAKE them, that would be beyond cool. Although, not all 17 have yet been described, so we will have to wait for a few more books. Steven Brust has long been my favorite writer... and I love all the Drageria books.

Seriously though...how cool would it be to have Iceflame, Pathfinder, Blackwand...all 17 of them mounted and with plaques stating their full Dragearan name and history? Too fun! =D Seriously though, there's about a billion of these blades I'd like to make...all based on books I've read. Cris
