Soak time is how long you keep a blade in your forge after it gets to the proper temp. for the steel used.

i dont really time it, i just kinda eyeball it and when the entire blade looks evenly heated i do my magnet test then quench.

kitchen oven, but you gotta have a thermometer to test the actual temp, most ovens arent accurate in their display.

Man I just visited Scorpion bows and knives site and bugger me if they dont do a copy of the furyan ulak knives off chronicles od riddick! I must have them...and several other blades they! Curse you people for alerting me to the presence of many unaffordable blades!!!!! BTW I think $189 for that knife is reasonably good,I got shafted $200 for an OKC Gen 2 SP-50 at the local gun shop when it seems you guys in the states get em for around $60!

There are many makers much better than I am. As for wood and fittings. 3 P's. Patience, Practice, and Perseverance

It doesn't hurt to have a good set of chisels and rasps either.

Patience is my big downfall, i get too aggressive with the wood forgetting its not as resilient as steel and once you take it off you cant put it back

I don't make knives, but I've been known to buy some very nice ones. If I had $200 that was looking for a knife, I'd snag that one. I don't have anything quite like it, and that looks like a good deal.
