I saw a D-Guard Bowie on the internet a few weeks back that i really liked however when i contacted the man who created it i got no reply so i was wondering if anyone knows of a company or group that could make something like this, and possibly two cutlass style swords with leather sheathes like the millersbrosblades ones here I contacted gene weishuhn about doing custom work monthes ago but i've been getting spam emails from him lately.

also, 35MM width, too much or no? i want to know because i read that was the width of a french briquet and they were apparently used for splitting wood sometimes so it seems like it may have a modicum of utility.

I'm American. I know inches. I can visualize what an inch is, even a centimeter. These millimeter measurements give me problems. Anyway, 35mm is about 1 3/8". That's not terribly wide. When they say the sword was used for chopping wood, the probably mean branches and saplings. They weren't splitting logs. why don't you just get a zombie tools d' captain? It's a "tactical saber". You can get it without that ridiculous finish too.

because i love zombie tools but i want what i want not what zombie tools makes, and they don't do custom anything so i figure because i want all of theses unique features and i want them to match and not come with el cheapo kydex sheaths.
on the subject of what i want i want something that has a old sort of revolutionary war era feel but still obviously modern without being a reproduction.

That really sounds like Scorpion Swords: I'm pretty sure he does a lot of one-off, custom designs. If I was looking for someone to do a tactical cuttoe, I'd certainly try him out. Shoot him a picture of an Atrim tactical and say, "what would your take on that look like?" (Inspired by, not a copy of.)
I don't have anything by him, but I've been watching his work get better and better, and his prices sure seem good for custom work. Kind of like with Windlass, this kind of "short tactical blade" seems to be his forte.

Hmmm. Saber is a broad term, but I think you're referring to a curved, single hand sword with a knuckle guard. How about this, find a production sword you like, and either have someone make a scabbard to your liking or make it yourself. Longship armoury does customs. Any good swordsmith can make you what you want, but it costs. The scabbard seems to be your main area of concern.

even after removing the scabbard from the picture there is still the fact of me wanting a custom bowie and two matching sabers. not someone else idea of a saber, f*** their idea of what a good saber looks like it's my money. I guess at this point i'll have to go to longship armory unless you all know someone better. this may take longer as i have to save up more money but it'll be worth it. and since im going with longship (or better, depending on if you all know a place that can out do them in quality)i'll go premium with the scabbard too.

this ain't good, i thought there might be some hope if i could get a hold of him here. After looking over his stuff im starting to doubt weather or not anyone could do a copy of his work but better after seeing how complex his work looks (I know nothing about knives BTW so im kinda freaking out right now). i already know where im getting the sheath but if i cant get the rest together it removes the purpose, I want my first real sword i buy to be MY SWORD, not a ZT not a MBB not somebodies practice.
please tell me that knife is something most smiths can pull off.
here are it's measurements apparently It's 17. 1/8" overall and weighs 28.5 oz. The blade is 1095 spring steel 11. 3/4" X 1. 15/16" X 1/4" thick (3/8" at the blade catchers) The guard, bolster, blade catchers and pommel sides are 1018 steel.
The handle is 5. 1/8" long with scales of Curly Maple. There is a 3/8" lanyard hole in the pommel. The sheath is 10 oz. leather with black steel rivets and a black steel snap. There are attachment points front and back for adding leg ties etc. It's cemented at the spacer and hand stitched using doubled waxed nylon saddle stitching thread making for an extremely rugged, rough use sheath.
just in case something happens to the original page.

You're talking some serious cash to get a reproduction of that Bowie. If you want one of the same quality as Mike's you're looking at high end makers. There's lots of makers who can churn out a D guard to the spec's you've listed though.
If you want it to be the same quality as Mike did you need to either talk to the guy who made it or to any other high end smith.

You're wanting another maker to rip off a design.

Fallen makes a good point, the original smith can duplicate it for you,but it would have to be tweaked if someone else was to make it.

1. yes fallen, i had hoped it had been that obvious from the get go. I want what i want, and if the guy who makes it doesn't seem to be responding to me i will get it somewhere else, it's called supply and demand.
also unless you can quote some law that states the specifics of why i would have to significantly change the design, don't being it up.
