Is that a single-handed Celtic Wolf on the left? Want!

Sure is. It is actually the steel hand carved original fittings that were sent off to have the bronze ones made from.
I have the same fittings but bronze with a 37 inch fantasy Viking blade to match this one on order for later this year.
John will make just about any blade type using the Longship fittings.

I still have yet to own my first Viking. Everytime I have a chance to get one something happens. It actually seems to happen every time I try to get an albion too. which i also have yet to own. Out of the higher end Vikings which ones are your guys favorites?

You basically got swindled? I'm shocked. Did you use PayPal?

Well that sucks about getting ripped, but don't let that stop you.
Get one, if you can. There is something about a Viking sword, can't put my finger on it specifically but...get one.
It's like the turning point for "medieval" swords. That weird but awesome spatha/migration/viking/medieval thing. Vikings kinda straddle that fence and are IMO when swords for us modern enthusiasts really started coming into their own.

No I used a money order not Paypal. I'm hoping a good deal on a Viking pops up by the end of the year.

If I could have only 1-production Viking sword, it would be the Albion Huskarl I own. It is a great sword. I also have the Jarl but really like the Huskarl better.
Custom made Viking swords are great options. I have a Michael Pikula custom that came in about the same price as the Albion. For more money, Barta makes some sweet swords but has a long waiting list. There are some other excellent custom makers out there.

I'm considering going custom. In the production area are the ones from albion the best choice?

For production models, I would have to say yes. If you consider Rob Miller's standard viking offerings on his site as production models, I would also recommend him. Of course, there are some really decent viking models from lower cost makers but you are trading some historical accuracy for the lower price. The Albion Squire Line viking swords are a great value.
I kinda wish A&A would expand their model line and introduce a couple of accurate production viking swords. They will make custom vikings though.

I wish Gus would bang out a few as well. I've been thinking about having Rob Miller or brenno make one for a couple years now. I just need to get my sword funds back up.

I might have some cash saved up in a few weeks if anyone is thinking about selling something.

I will probably get an Albion Next Gen or Ollin before I go custom. Baby steps.

My semi-custom H/T Viking blade with fittings by Matt at BKS. Assembly and grip done by me. I know I'm late to the party, but I keep meaning to put it up here and forgetting when I'm actually home. Attachments:

not bad at all! Viking swords are a never ending party so no need to worry on that score I should have a second hand Rob Miller Type H arriving next week. I'll post pictures when I can.
