I like the look of the Kris Cutlery viking and am a big fan of KC blades. It appears to be out of stock though. Just as well for me. I can NOT buy another sword right now.

I MUST demand that we stop this discussion. It is killing me! haha
Seriously though...I can honestly say that the Viking swords were the ones I had that absolute LEAST interest in not long ago. I just didn't like their look. But coming out here to the forum and seeing some great looking variations, and seeing so many great test videos, I am now gathering funds to get one! I can't wait to get my hands on one!
Not to hijack the thread, but I had a couple of related questions. I am interested in getting a model without a distal taper, but if that makes them extremely tip heavy I will get a tapered blade. Does anyone have a non-tapered blade? Can you tell me how it handles? Also, does anyone find any great disadvantage to a one-handed sword? I have thus far gone for two-handed swords or at least hand and a half, so a Viking would be my first one-handed model.
BTW-I am a pretty big guy so a larger blade isn't going to be terrible for me. However, I don't want something that is ridiculously tip heavy to the point of being completely useless.
All the models you guys have shown look awesome. I am not sure why, but the Viking swords have started looking much more artistic and beautiful to me.

Dale, I prefer using a sword one handed myself and I'm not a big guy. It just feels more natural to me. I didn't think it would at first unless it was a shortie like a gladius but I changed my mind. Back to viking swords, I have the gen2 10th century and it doesn't have much distal taper if any and it handles good for me. I'd go with a KC viking if I could get one.

Distal taper is something that only recently has been rediscovered. Maybe 10 years ago, no one had ever even thought of such a thing, and MOST (I'd hesitate to say all) swords without distal taper are exceptionally clumsy. I strongly recommend making sure your sword has distal taper...

Thanks...it sounds like the 10th Century is the way to go. I was looking at the Valiant Armory Viking but I read Ricwilly's review and decided against it.
I also like the 8th Century by Gen 2, except I think the pommel and guard are a bit too modern looking. In most swords that does not bug me much, but I like an ornate look in a Viking sword.

Your right to pass on the older VA viking I think, Dale, espeacially if you're going to do some cutting. The Gen2 10th century is a good cutter, however be aware that the fittings are kinda bulky looking.

Hello everyone! I know it's been a loooooooong time since i've posted here, and I was amazed to see how many helpful replies I got. So, here's an update. I ended up getting a Del Tin Viking sword (2102). It's an absolute beauty. A bit heavy, but sturdy, with a nice looking blade. I also picked up for myself, the Hanwei Mammen axe, and their stag horn Seax (Both are fantastic in my opinion.) For the future...i'm looking at the Albion Squire Line Vinland, and the new up and coming sword from Hanwei (Though as far as I know...no set release date for it.) www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=12983If it looks as good and handles better than their previous viking swords...I will MOST assuredly be picking one up.

Hi guys!! . If anyone owns the Norseman sword please .. let us know the review , , I think four lbs .. could be a little heavy but a little .. i used to practice with two handers .. in fact this is my favorite sword .. but viking swords are like a little beasts .. short and powerful .. and beautiful too .. Am undecided which one .. but I'll wait if someone make the review ..

Isn't Norse 3lbs? That would be acceptable...

KOA has the Norseman at a bit over four and a half pounds.

VA has a couple of unwieldy models like that. See Ricwilly's review of the VA Viking Sword. Sounds like it is the fabled "Crowbar."

Hi, The Del tin viking swords are very strong, and reliable. ( they make them tough enough for reenactors. i own Del tin swords ( the Scottish broad sword as well as the tenth century viking) so i speak from experience about Del tins. and if you look around they can be had for very close to the 300 bucks mark ;D

Sounds like there's something bad about Deepeeka? I've never really heard of them. The damascus sword looks beautiful...though the blade looks slightly ahistorical to me. (At least that's my opinion. I'm talking on the 650$ one. The cheaper ones look more historically accurate. Is it just me, or does the blade on the 650$ one look odd?)

Looks fine to me. :-) But Deepeeka is famous for heavy and insecurely assembled swords.

I like that first damascus viking. After a grip re-wrap it would be a real purdy sword.
