Hello folks.
A lot of people have bought custom orders from Huawei here.
I am now on over 1 year in waiting. original quote was 35 days. I even gladly allowed them extra time and 6 months was no problem in waiting.
My orders were not even difficult compared to what I have seen them make. An extra long kogarasu maru, and an okissaki katana with Bo hi. That's it. No odachi, no 35 inch blade with a reverse curved nakago.
After numerous emails, Jacky Chen from Huawei simply stopped responding.
I consider my money stolen at this point, and I will likely find some means of getting their attention there. Perhaps buying swords on eBay and not paying for them will do. I have requested just an existing replacement that costs exactly what I paid and they begged for more time.
Hopefully they care about their reputation enough to actually make good on my purchase.
Aaron

that really sucks Aaron. did you pay for them through ebay or on your own? I wouldn't risk the trouble for yourself of buying from them through ebay and not paying, I'm sure ebay won't care about what Huawei did to you and you'd probably loose in the end. can your cc company or bank help you out with recovering your payments?

Darn. I was going to try them out. I don't think I will now. Don't buy on Ebay and not pay. That will hurt you and not them.

Can't say I'm surprised... tho I am disappointed. Did a review of a couple of their swords WAY back in the day... swords were a good value but customer services was VERY poor. I brought this up a few times as Huawei gained popularity... wanted to make sure people were warned about what they might be getting themselves into. Hope you get your money back Aaron. :-(

You mean money? Anyway this is pretty much a terrible situation. Sadly, I think paypal doesn't extend their coverage that long and I think with them knowing their rising popularity, they might have chosen to just ignore you and keep the money. I guess we should get the word out about this

That totally sucks. I was entertaining the idea of getting a custom sword from them a year or so ago but ended up not doing for whatever reason. Looks like I made the right choice. Hope you do eventually get your sword or your money back Justice.

I wonder if Huawei swords is the same Huawei that makes electronics and military equipment for the Chinese army. If so, they probably couldn't care less.

That sucks. I bought 2 custom katana a few years ago with no problems.

For the time being I think spreading the word around will suffice. I have sent them a link to this thread explaining that I will gladly update any progress they make to remedy the situation. So far no response has been made.
$300 (half down for two swords) isn't a lot of money, but the fact they refuse to even just replace it with an existing blade is a bit infuriating.

Well, let's spread the words on this. Huawei got a good sword reputation and stuff partly because of the reviews around here and all the people that took a chance with them, so just let everyone know about this and their horrible customer service. Anyone asking if they should get anything from Huawei around here should know this info now.

Aaron - I've had the same experience with Huawei for custom pieces, granted mine was difficult and was not the norm. I got very frustrated after 6 months and demanded a refund and like you they requested for just a little more time. I did gave them the benefit of the doubt and sure enough after roughly 9 months everything is done and came together better than I could have hope for.
FYI we're still in Feb and I'm not entirely sure if the workers are back due to the Luna new year celebrations, they usually take a few weeks off so just keep that in mind.
Best of luck with this bro

I was considering getting a budget beater from them, so this thread is very timely. I don't think that anyone wants the stress of having to constantly chase the status of a purchase and be frustratated/angered when you're taken for a ride.
It's worth going through a reputable dealer and paying a premium for peace of mind.

To be clear... If you have a negative experience as Aaron and I have... then when someone asks about Huawei its perfectly acceptable to say 'Well, this is what happened with me, I won't deal with them again.' but don't cross the line into slander/libel of the company. SBG has clear policies on this. If you have not had an experience with Hauwei yourself and someone asks about them, feel free to post a link to this or another thread that describes an experience and say 'So and so had some trouble with their customer service, read here.' or something to that effect. We strive to keep the community informed so that sword buyers can avoid dangerous pitfalls... and this is even MORE the case in dealing with Ebay, which is a landmine filled field of potential trouble... but we must always stay careful to not cross the line into outright vendor bashing.

try to contact via email - not on ebay, the address you send the money to on paypal (sophie.******** ...), worked for me
but like Vue mentioned its Chines new Year- most likely they will not respond for a while

like Sean pointed out, results have varied for different consumers. I have had two custom blades made by them for good prices and fast delivery, no issues. for someone looking to purchase a sword already up for sale in their listings, I think there is much less risk involved as the trouble usually occurs on custom blade orders.

i've noticed Jackie stops responding once the swords have shipped. I wonder if he thinks the swords are delivered. Try contacting through an open ebay auction using the messaging service on ebay.

Just an update so say there's no update. No replies to my emails, nothing.
I'll probably create a throwaway email address and ask about a custom sword, and if they respond, (maybe after dragging out the process a bit) embarrass them.

Good idea. I asked them about a bit of stuff via an ebay auction few weeks ago. It was a rather long text. Like shipping, avaiable tsuba and stuff. No reply.
But as i asked them for giving them specs for a custom - reply within one day. Already decided not to get a custom by them as it seems too risky for me and decided to get a 1095 from .
