I've just recently bought a DSA Anduril from a fellow member here, and...well, the scabbard isn't too great. So I decided I'm going to try to get a screen-accurate scabbard for it. Is there anyone out there that can make a scabbard like this? It's pretty intricate: And preferably still keep the cost down to somewhere acceptable (400+ is stretching it). I also have another thought, one that I'm not too sure if it will work but is much cheaper. I could buy a United Cutlery Anduril scabbard. I know for sure the DSA Anduril is slightly shorter than the UC one, although I don't know if it'll fit based on the width of the blade and it's thickness. Anyone here own both and would be able to comment on this?

You will not get a custom scabbard like that for less than $400. You could buy a UC scabbard to give it a shot, and if it doesn't match you can cannabalize the scabbard it for parts to use for a new custom scabbard from someone like Crusader Monk. That route might work for less than $400. The UC scabbards are surprisingly good in fit in finish, although the leather is plastic-y and they are a bit heavy.

I agree that using the UC scabbard for parts is the most likely solution. The DSA is most likely going to be too thick to really fit the UC scabbard well, and it's going to be too short anyway (better than too long, granted). But no, you won't get a custom scabbard for much less than $400ish if you want movie level or even UC level quality without providing at least some parts...

Yeah I figured I wouldn't be able to get it custom'd at $400. I'm most likely going to buy the UC scabbard, my gut tells me it'll fit...mostly.
Problem would be actually finding somewhere that has it in stock, and not for a ridiculously high mark up...

If I were to go the custom route I would most likely go with crusader monk, only thing I'm worried about is that most of the scabbards in his gallery don't have throats. Although I'm sure he can make one if he can do chapes. There's also the metal piece on the middle with rune engravings on it...but we'll see. For now I'm saving up some money and evaluating my shopping list (there's quite a lot on it).
Meanwhile I'll put my drawing skills to use and draw up some diagrams for the scabbard, since there isn't a lot of reference material to go on.

He could say you referred him to CrusaderMonk.... or he could say it was Lunaman 10 days earlier

Thanks for the link! The price seems pretty good too. I just wish I knew the width of the base and the tip of the scabbard. The length is around 5+ inches longer than the DSA scabbard though.

I've just got a reply from CrusaderMonk, he tells me that he won't be able to do the metal work on the scabbard besides the chape. He can, however, replicate the design in all-leather with risers. I'm okay with this as I do have some ideas of a custom, non-screen version of the scabbard.
However before I go the custom route, I'll be getting the UC scabbard first. I have a weird feeling it'll fit, if a tiny bit loosely.

Yea, it's worth a shot. I once picked up a UC ranger scabbard on a whim and it ended up fitting my Albion/Christian Fletcher Ranger sword surprisingly well without any modification. Such a lucky result is unlikely, but if nothing else you'll have the right fittings to send to Sarge when he makes you a custom.

That gives me some hope that the UC scabbard will fit We'll see in about a month or two, when my shopping list and pre-orders have cleared up.

There was a member here who was selling his in the classifieds a while back. I was surprised nobody was going to pick it up.
On topic, I have this apprehension about gutting the UC scabbard and using it for parts...since it comes with a cert. of authenticity and all.

Yet you don't have any qualms about buying an unlicensed replica of the sword itself? What? The certificate isn't worth anything. It's not like you're defacing a priceless artifact. And you still get to keep the certificate. :?: You want the scabbard to fit your blade, right? I don't understand that trepidation at all. Scabbards made with reclaimed UC scabbard fittings can look BOSS.

Yeah I guess that kind of doesn't make sense. It's mainly because I collect memorabilia, so the thought of gutting one to make something better I'm a little not used to.
Also an update: I sort of asked CrusaderMonk to do a lot with the sword and scabbard so he had to decline at that point, so I'm pulling back and just focusing on the scabbard and what I can do with minimal metal work. I'll see if he doesn't mind using parts from the UC scabbard, if it doesn't fit.
