I've read both the reviews for this, but what do you guys think of BKS as a whole? Are their blade tough? Durable? Suitable for alot of cutting and usage?

BKS make very durable weapons... the majority of their sales, at least in the past, were to stage fighting groups that would be banging the swords steel no steel night after night for years... so they have to be made tough. Here is a review I did of a couple of their swords awhile back... viewtopic.php?f=6&t=91

I just ordered one from BKS with John, their production manager. It's wolf pommel and wolf guard w/knuckle guard. 28' blade no fuller and the whole thing is to be blackened. I hope this turns out well

Let us know how long it takes to get it. I love BKS swords--I own 6 or 7 (all but one are cutlsses/sabers) but even in stock stuff took a long time to get to me. It has been a couple years though since I ordered direct. Hopefully having a production manager will help with turn around times.

My bks actually took around...uhhh month and a half i think. That's with a belt, hanger, back hanger, scabbard, and the sword it self. They finished the sword fairly quicky, around 3 weeks I think but they do get pretty busy over there and I didn't want to rush the order. Definitely worth getting, and with that friendly customer service, you can go a good bit into customization. I feel bad bugging their production manager, but it made the wait a bit better as he sends me pictures for updates.

Glad to hear you had a positive experience and that the production manager thing is working for them.
My own BKS custom is a couple years late now (yes....years) and getting updates is worse than pulling teeth. I hate bugging people periodically and certainly don't want anything rushed but after a while even my own patience begins to wear thin without communication.
Granted what I ordered isn't stock production by any means, but still....I'm sure if/when it eventually arrives I'll speak glowingly about it but the wait is certainly trying.

Yup I really just want to get updates but I feel bad trying to get updates every couple of days. It's almost done now and They're just working on the shealth and what not, and paint the blade flats and furniture all black. John, I think that's the production manager, is actually really responsive and he sends picture even without me asking for them, but other than that, the wait is just killing me as I'm just so excited
