Actually, it's funny...this thread started out just in General Discussions, you know, the truly general part, down below the culturally-specific subforums. The question was whether the original sword was a type of katana or not; it was determined to be a Chinese dao. The conversation from there went to whether the OP wanted a dao of this style or a proper katana.

Somehow the whole thread was moved to Chinese swords, just in time for the conversation to switch to katana. From there it became the same two people having a conversation about Chinese eBay forges and their katana options...and now everybody's in a fuss about a Chinese Swords thread derailing into katana.

Ah, the internet...

Well... I guess I'm sorta sorry I hijacked this "Chinese" thread over to Chinese Manufactured "Japanese" katanas. If some mod or the OP were to move the whole thing... I'm sure I could keep up. I'm just reluctant to start a "new" thread since I've just been asking noob questions & looking for advice.
