Well I've never gotten myself into our National Museum, and I feel slightly ashamed... But good thing I now have visited it. It was a good visit, and I have plenty of pictures to enjoy and study the swords. My main intrest in the museum were the viking swords. I have Swords of the Viking Age by Ian Peirce, that includes several swords from our National Museum. Unfortunately there was very limited info about the swords, and after asking from several people the only way to get info would be by talking with the archeologists. Hopefully one day I might be able to do that, but I gave the book tip (so there would be at least some further info readily for those who would want it) to the staff in case they encounter another sword-nut. Now there was only small booklet in the weapons room (and as the viking stuff was in another room, no info on them),
But here is a small sneak preview of the swords, I mostly photographed the viking stuff, but I do have c. 100 pics in overall. Plenty of very nice stuff in the museum. Sorry bout the quality of the pics, some of the pics were just reflected by lights and I had to switch angles.
First 2 single handers, 2 two handers, basket hilt, and a what was described c.1600 style sword, but description mentions not fitting entirely to that period and 1850's replicas, so I do not entirely know what this is. In the middle was partial blade. 1300-1600

30-year war collection. 1618–1648

These swords had good lighting so good pics. 1620-1690, ornate swords, I saw my first Passau wolf.

Curved swords 1750-1800

Pic is blurred but these are military swords c. the latter part of 1600's to 1800's (I'm not really into these swords so I didn't read the description that carefully, got correct information on another forum).

Then comes the amazing older stuff.
These were the swords I was after, there are c. 30-40 or so early swords (some in fairly good shape some very partial) in the museum. Well worth of taking a look if visiting. First time I saw ULBERHT and INGELRII swords, alongside other inscriptions that I don't yet understand.
