Some of those swords are very ornate and beautiful, are they all functional swords, or are some of them wall hangers? It's been my experience that generally the fancier a sword looks, the less functional it is, but those all looked fairly sturdy.

All the swords I buy now have to be fully funtional, no matter how fancy, that is why most fantasy pieces I buy are custom made, I still have a few wall hangers that were purchased about five years ago (in the group shot in the display case) sometimes its just too hard to let go:)

Yeah I can relate to that. I have a few of those. Most I bought knowing they'd never leave the wall, but thats fine since I knew that, but I have a couple older ones that I bought before I understood that difference, but they're still around because they really are too hard to let go. But thanks for filling me in, great looking collection.

Whoa there Mister...............
Work in progress? Where, who, how, what, is that going to be in the end? I'm liking the looks of it so far and its barely sword shaped. You playing it close to the vest, or are you able to shed a little light?

I won't spoil it Chuck by naming names but I will post any progress shots I get. This sword was ordered in Sep 2010 and will be shown at the Helsinki 2013 knife show before coming down under, so if you are heading that way, you will get to handle it before I do . It will be without a doubt the centre piece of my historic collection. here is a link to the site helsinkiknifeshow.com/#infoLet the grinding begin

Oh, now I really have to make it to Helsinki Knife Show. I was planning I might get there but still not sure if I'll make it. I have a guess what this will be and who will make this, but I'll keep the secret. If my guess is correct then this will be a jaw dropping sword.

Holy.....wait, what? I'm thinking that I can see which way that project is heading, and if I'm guessing in the right neighborhood, that's going to be the coolness for sure. Finlandia eh? That ups the intrigue factor a notch or six!! I gots me an idea of who and what now, and it's telling me that you just kicked the game play up to the next level!! I'm also thinking of how downright dastardly it would be to get a plane ticket to Finland, and then email you a pic holding your sword..........................

Agreed Dave has such an amazing selection of so many makers as well. Between him and William Swiger you would be hard pressed to find such quality in any other collections I have seen.
