When watching many of the videos and reading around, it seems like there swords cut at least two times better than any other swords. If any of you have one, or had one, can you share your experiences with them?
Ricky was kind enough to offer me the RK-2 demo for cheap. I'll be getting it next week or so. I have an interest in the budo series, but I want to hear feedback first. Thanks

I got my RK2 a couple weeks ago and I've gotten a chance to do quite a bit of cutting with it. I'll post a thorough review soon, but here's the lowdown. Yes, it cuts great. I don't know if I can quantify it, and my skills are fairly limited, but it has done just fine on everything from bottles to 1"+ bamboo with 3"-4" of branches and leaves bundled around it. With all this cutting power, handling is very quick, and I was able to get my first-ever two bottle cut, where you balance one bottle on top of another, then cut the bottom bottle first. It requires a very fast second cut, obviously. I bought the RK2 because I wanted the best TH katana around, and I'm not dissapointed at all.

Part of the reason (not all, but definitely part) is Ricky's awesome sharpen job. He's probably acknowledged as one of the better polish/sharpeners around here.

I have one of the older Wind Gliders and even now, after bearing the brunt of my use, it is sharper than the swords I get new. It has not bent at all on botched cuts, of which there have been many, nor has the edge deformed. I was also lucky enough to use Redwd707's RK-2 and I can tell you the quality is phenomenal. Ricky himself is a cool guy, and he will service his products.

I have a Hanwei Shobu Raptor with sharpening and an RK2 currently....I like the cutting ability, fittings, Tsukamaki and overall quality and heat treat of the steel (CPM3V) that I ordered a second RK2 and Budo (Tamagahane Alloy steel) that are on the way.
The Hanwei Shobu Raptor needs a new Tsuka Wrap and reshape so it is thinner like the swords so I will end up spending more to get that sword to my liking than a new RK2. I do not like the Axe handle or suede they use so I really bought this sword for the blade sharpening and fittings

The RK-2 gets me everything I look for, so I ordered one, but have to wait for the next batch for one with my specifications because I have issues with tsuba holes.
Bo-hi with slant/curved sharp termination. No hamon. Tsuba with no holes (Ricky said I could get one with the same solid wave theme that came on my Budo).
I have a Budo as well, that I bought to show my support of , but I'm turning it into more of a display sword to show off to friends ("Look, you can cut empty bottles and they'll stay in place! Look, you can cut bottles without even having to swing the sword! Look, you can cut through tatami and it will stay together then fall off when the wind blows like in anime! Don't touch it! It's a super special edition!").

I just received the rk-2 demo from Ricky the other day. When he showed me the pictures, the blade was all scratched up. I expected him to send it that way, but nope, he send it all polished and shiny. Great customer service.
Anyways this sword is FAST. I have a wallhanger that is 1.5 lbs and this thing feels just as light at a POB around 3-4 inches. This is the sharpest sword I've ever handled, but the grip is a little round, so at first I was struggling at cutting bottles for silent cuts like I see in all his videos. After some help from Ricky, I'm pretty much a silent cutting machine.. hehe. All in all I am very happy with this purchase. I hope to buy more from Ricky in the future.

i have 2 windgliders, a samgako, and a shinogi, they are the sharpest blades ive ever seen, and imho nobody will produce a sharper edge and better cutting ability at this price point. i can make difficult cuts with no effort with my wind glider, and the balance is phenominal, extremely light weight and fast, while the shinogi is a very beefy heavy duty blade with the same epic sharpness.

I went to 's site, and seems they've sold out. It's really nice to see that they're having no problems moving their product. It's good product, and deserves to be moved. Can't wait for the next batch with my special order RK-2 to come in!

They're sharp. VERY sharp.
When you buy you get this obscenely sharp sword.
The advantage is you can do some crazy trick cuts with it
The disadvantage is that the sword will get dull a lot faster than if you have an appleseed edge

Not really, I've cut around 200 bottles and a tatami mat without any noticeable dulling. The only thing that made it noticeably less sharp was all the cardboard I cut up, but that's expected for every sword. It was still very sharp after that, but not stupid sharp like it came to me. However because of the great geometry that Ricky put on it, I got it back to original sharpness in no time.

^this. I have the demo budo which went through hell and back and i have cut excessively with it for about 6 months on plastics that chipped many of my earlier swords; it is without damage and static empty sharp still. I've never cut cardboard though so I cant comment on that. My multiple other also damageless/sharp. I had 13 high quality swords before my first including a tori xl, bamboo mat, lion dog, wiwingti kokat(i do kinda miss that one) etc. Sold em all to get and stick with my current 4 . Great service, price, performance, quality, cutttttiiiiiiiinnnnngggg. Thumbs up Ricky.

Err forgot to say, it has apple seed edge. It's not remotely a flat grind, perfectly swell niku, just better total geometry

You sold 13 high quality pieces to get 4 swords? wow, was it really that worth it? Which swords do you have?

Pretty sure that all the money didn't go to swords... Ricky doesn't overcharge. I'm just glad that I got in before the prices eventually do go up.
