Wow! Your video makes me want to cut with my Budo now... but my distaste for messing it up and getting scratches all over it still wins out.

I've actually done obscene amounts of cutting with this one and it is remarkably scratchless. I hear you though, i barely touch my choji budo cause it is so prrrdy.

Thanks! I couldn't even wager a guess as to how many I have cut. Extremely hard plastics. I do know that I have had many swords dull by this point let alone paper shredding. Really love these blades! Might step up to first tatami soonish I hope.

Awesome cutting! so close!! from all I've seen and read about these swords it seems pretty obvious that they are made form the ground up for the express purpose of cutting while maintaining an edge. to not cut with one of these is almost disrespectful. leave the wall hangers and the antique nihonto up on the rack to look pretty and for goodness sake, cut something with the !! a blade that could cut empty's would have been perfect for me when I lived in my little apartment in NY

Tried paper double cuts. Slight shades of success on first and last in vid.

I agree it is time. Just built a stand for it too. And got a static on reverse cut!

Stop making me want to cut with mine... it's going to be so pretty and beautiful, I can't let it get scratched up.

Scratches are easy to fix, dude, what's the point of owning a specialized cutter if you never cut with it? It's not like these are art blades first and performance second. They are meant to be used.

How do you fix them exactly?

I like the polish and hamon on my choji a great amount. It is white polished above the hamon. The demo budo I have was just given a cleanup polish after testing and is strictly functional polish that I purchased knowingly. Best polish I have had was on lion dog but it scratched badly and noticeably in any cutting.

Also, both mine were 'first gen' budo. I think they got better.
