Hi all.
I've just ordered my first sword, that is the first sword for my future collection. I've ordered the SL Vinland sword from A-E as it was in within my price range and the craftsmanship looks absolutely lovely. I hope to get one of the high end sometime but for now I'll stick with the not too expensive ones.
I have some questions if you don't mind about the different sword classes. For exampe : What is a squire line sword, compared to a skirmish line? English is not my first language som I'm having a bit problems understanding 100% the differences. For example :
These swords can be ordered sharp or blunt. Please note that the blunt version isn't designed for historical fencing (the edge is too narrow for that). If you are looking for a sword for historical fencing take a look at the Maestro Line and Skirmish Line swords. The grip is of stabilized birch, wrapped with black leather.
When it says the edge is to narrow will that mean that it would break? And why is it just the blunt and not the sharpened version thats not designed for historical fencing? I've ordered my sword sharpened and look forward to testing the blade on some water bottles or branches as I have seen on some videos from Swords buyers guide on youtube, but I'm a bit concerned that I might hurt the blade or chip it.
The word also doesn't come with a scabbard, so I would greatly appreciate if there are anyone who owns an Albion sword that has some hints and tips on how to care for my sword. I have done some searching on the internet and found someone who makes scabbards, but those are all located in the US and some require that I send my sword, and all in all it will be even more expensive than the sword itself. So as of now I will probably check with local knifemakers and see if they can make something.
Alright, I hope my first post was informative and that I didnt leave something out if you have ideas or help for me.
Kind regards!
