So as the title might suggest, I recently purchased some ringmesh armor, namely the long sleeved tunic with v neck and leggings.
www.ringmesh.com/
I wear 32x32 pants and find the leggings to be pretty well cut and accurate to the dimensions listed on the site.
However, the tunic is a different story. I ordered the medium(smallest size) based on my chest measurement of 40", i figured 45" would allow for a gambeson and have some wiggle room there. The torso part fits fine, and the sleeves are alright(albeit more like 3/4 length than full length) however, measure your chest. if it's 40" like mine, get the next size up because 45" means 45" stretched all the way-and it fits uncomfortably and pinches my armpits a little. luckily, the torso was cut very long and it could lose 4" and still be mid thigh length. I plan on taking off that amount from the bottom and making some long diamond shaped gussets to splice into the armpit area..I'm going to have a seamstress take a look at it monday and see what she has to say about how much should be added where.
On a brighter note, the ringmesh is extremely strong, I can't deform a link on it no matter how I twist and pull. the links are individually tack welded together by the great ringmesh machine, and there's a vid on youtube of a guy stabbing some with a kitchen knife to no avail (that vid actually pushed me over the edge into getting it.)
the whole tunic weighs about 6-7 lbs. as well, so if you're worried about the protection you could double up on them and still have it weigh less than a traditional hauberk.
