Hey guys, this'll be a bit of a FRAT so feel free to skim.
Anyways, I started collecting swords back around 1998. At that time I was more into Euro swords. Started with a homemade single hand sword I bought at a Ren Fair for, like 80 bucks. Then got a solingen bone handled dagger on a trip to Germany. Eventually bought the Black Knight sword made by (at that time) CAS Iberia. Got a Kris Cutlery katana followed by a windlass rapier and companion dagger made by Del Tin. Had my eyes set on a Del Tin War Sword next, but life started getting in the way. Never got the War Sword. Sold the KC kat, and the rapier and dagger.
Flash forward to earlier this year. After watching several seasons of Highlander the series, I decided I wanted Duncan's sword. I started researching and low and behold, the chinese forges that had started with Hanwei had EXPLODED. There was so much more available, and at very low prices. Nevertheless, I have two main hobbies, as you can tell by my username. One of them is expensive. (I'll let you guess which one! lol) So I made a deal with my wife to get a tax ID and start selling swords on ebay, basically in order to pay for the swords I wanted to buy for myself! So, full disclosure that I'm an ebay seller.
I started with the Masahiro 1st Generation Highlander sword. Love it! Then got the Ten Ryu Masakage. I reviewed both and did some test cutting on my youtube channel, judosailor. (Flame away, boys! lol) I am slowly moving up in price and quality and have decided on one of these two swords for my next purchase. Either Ten Ryu's Raijin Folded Katana
or Musashi's SS795BK
As for me, I used to train according to the Arma method (then called the HACA method). TKD black belt (meh), currently train Judo (sankyu) and spent about 7 years in Law Enforcement.
Bit long, but oh well. Nice meeting you all.
