The Condor Knife and Tool web site is showing a 1075 Carbon steel Dadao. the knife center is offering a pre-order price of $84.95. I am unfamiliar with their products in general but it looks decent for the price.

HERE's a link for anyone interested.... it looks pretty cool to me as well, Slam. 3.4lbs is a bit much, I think, but I'll look forward to reading a review of it if someone takes the plunge. Does anyone know anything about the brand? -Slayer

Don't like the steak knife handle and the weight does seem pretty gnarly...

I got no problems with the handle at all, but like Sean i think that the weight is on the excessive side. If you are interested into buying it i suggest you take a look at the Hanwei military Dadao before clicking the pre-order button . Although the overall shape of the condor looks quite cool.

Condor has a good reputation as far as their knives and machetes go. Search over on bladeforums for Condor, and you should find plenty to read about their products.

I think it's pretty good and functional looking. The handle is fine with me - appears to be a nice, solid pinned into a big, beefy tang and also the ring at end appears to be made from the same piece of steel (although the Hanwei military dadao looks that way, too, and is key welded in).
Very, very tempting.

On bladeforums, Condor products are usually described as sturdy, reliable knives and machetes that offer a good bang per buck ratio. That Dadao might be a nice blade. I suggest you check out knife stores like knifecenter.com and knifeworks.com. There's also bladehq.com. They all have good prices and have very solid reputation on the net. You'll probably pay a lot less than 85 bucks for that product.

I have their Kukri machete and love it loads. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase other products from them. I haven't had the chance to hold, much less test this product out, but I feel safe saying that it is probably a decent tool.

I'm going to venture a guess and say that the listed weight of 3.4 pounds is shipping weight, including the scabbard and miscellany. Otherwise, the thing would have to be like 1/2 inch thick or so to weigh that dang much.
Also, onestopknifeshop.com shows it for $78
