Is there anyone in America that sells the same type/brand of sword?
I ask because I so far see everything listed in non-American money, and that leads to to think they dont really sell here. (On a side note, for some reason my computer will not post some of the sites I have wanted to see in my researching your sword. Im thinking that My wife has some type of BLOCK turned on my computer that is getting tripped?)

while watching this video - www.huanuo-sword-art.com/index.htmlI kept hearing the word "okay" and it seems used on the very same context as i would use it too. Is the word the same word I use to say "fine, thats good, go on to the next part"?

right off the bat I see it has no Hamon, and that is an issue with me... but then when you look at that ad you come to the video...
HOLY COW!........the video alone sells this sword.
I would get the sword with the Tsuba "E" and the Saya "S2" However there is not a lot of choice here, and it suffers in my book for it.

the price is very cheap, and if it could be had with free shipping then it's a great sword.... I dont know much about this brand of steel, but the video makes a point clear as to how it can take abuse and snap back to true.

It's a Huawei, my man. It's their TH 9260 spring steel offering. Not much information on it, unfortunately. I've only ever heard one forum member mention that he had one or two, and that he was very happy with it. 9260, well tempered, is extremely tough. It's what the Cheness Tenchi is made from, and I'm sure you've read a post or two on how tough they are. When you consider that one of the Cheness 9260 models will run you almost $300, the Huawei is a steal.

For under $400, have you looked at the Munetoshi Kumo? It has a nice folded blade with a medium-niku geometry for cutting. $399 with free shipping. They are found at Swordnarmory. I'd provide a direct link, but for some reason they generally don't work for specific items there. The sword itself sports a T10 blade in a Honsanmai lamination(I'm not sure what the other steel used is.) It has a geometric yokote, blackened steel fittings and a nice partial wrap on the saya. The only thing I don't really like is that the ito is chemical fiber. Some like it, I just don't. I've dealt with Swordnarmory several times, and they are great. I've owned two Munetoshi katanas, though both were of the sub-$200 ilk. Both were fairly nice, and were great to cut with.
That new Huawei that is selling for $399 also looks pretty nice. You've already had good dealing with them once(and I really liked that one you chose as well,) maybe you should try them again.

i think many of you are mislead. the chinese are communist and dont care about copyright. this, more than likely, is why different forges use all the same advertising pictures and descriptions of the steel etc. not because there is just one company mass producing poor swords, but because the culture is very different and no-one would ever think to sue someone for just using a picture which they happened to make. i can give you different addresses for atleast 2 different forges in china both using the same pictures and bumph, so i am quite certain about this. i honestly see alot of unwarranted hating, and obviously this is because jobs are at risk, which is fair enough. but i think there is no doubt, that spending $300 on a decent chinese blade will get you alot more than the same amount from a western manufacturer, such as cold steel, trademarking the "kray ex" material so they can sell plain hard rubber handles on $300 knives and so on, youve really just got to use your eyes and logic sometimes. personally im english and have big problems trusting american manufacturing quality. i think americans are often very subject to over-rating the quality of their products in a kind of wave of patriotism. your cars for example are always made very poorly, with poor quality materials which fall apart after a few weeks. this is why we dont have them in europe. you always manage to get very few horses under the bonnet too for the engine size. the one thing that ive brought american on, and spent quite a bit of money on (a nice american made vaporiser with lifetime warranty and so on), was just a pathetic joke. its been back across the atlantic twice to be repaired and 4 american made expensive whips have fallen apart just trying to cope with the heat. so, personally when i see some hardcore capitalist americans who we all know as a culture probably value money more than any other, trying to cuss chinese manufacturers while charging $350 for a machine made knife with a rubber handle, i cringe. the chinese can pay someone to work on a blade for an entire week for less than a US company can pay for someone to work for 4 or 5 hours. just look at this www.j-sword.com/?product-1.htmlthis is the chinese shop of an ebay seller. thats about $300 US. how can the americans compete?? say what you like but i would feel far safer with that than i would with a $350 7.5 inch cold steel tanto. www.kingofswords.com/Swords/Cold ... to-II.html just compare the two...

I believe sir that YOU are mislead. As sword enthusiasts there is no real bias here against Chinese made swords seeing as the majority of the swords that are reviewed here and purchased by members here are made in China. There isn't even an issue with copyright infringement - see contrary to your higher than thou beliefs, the majority of us know there isn't such a thing as copyrighting in China.
The issue we take with this particular company and its affiliates and/or variations is the blatant false advertising of its products. Those who have a more thorough understanding of katana can look at these blades and know that they are NOT worth the money the company is asking for them. Let's take the sword you linked to as an example...
I see a sword that's been supposedly "folded" but the grain is large and coarse. The grain itself is far too visible to be a quality folded blade - its almost garish. The folding itself isn't the greatest yet the site claims that its using "high end Japanese technology". Polishing on the sword is not really a very good polish but for the money one can't complain too much.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the page it claims the steel is forge folded but then in materials it lists "pattern welded steel". Forge folded steel and pattern welded steel are two completely different things! So which one is it? Judging from the grain its definitely NOT forge folded. The yokote looks to be geometric but its hard to say and the kissaki has a horrible polish compared to the rest of the blade. The habaki isn't a great fit - in fact it looks like a one piece fits all habaki albeit its a bit nicer looking than your run of the mill habaki.
The "test videos" show a man swinging a full sized katana to cut a 5 gallon water jug in half, several 20oz. bottles and a paint can - impressive huh? Well first of all the sword in "video" 1 is different from the sword in video 2. Perhaps its the same as the one in "video" 3 but the sori (curvature) of the sword gives it away - two different curves. There is also the obvious point that none of these "videos" show anybody using the knife in question to do all of this! Is this what you'd consider proper advertising? I'd consider it false advertising.
The photographs say to me that they're not all of the same piece. In some pictures the tsuka of the knife (?) is held on by 2 mekugi. In another picture its held on by 3 mekugi. Who on earth would put so many mekugi in a knife handle? For a blade that length really 1 would suffice if the tsuka were carved to properly fit the tang instead of being one size fits all... anyway is it worth $300 USD? I'd say no. You can find better blades out there for that price.
As for trusting that or a $350 Cold Steel knife, I'd trust the Cold Steel knife before I trust that blade.
Oh by the way about American cars - if they suck so badly why is it that Ford is the 6th most popular brand of vehicle in Germany? For that matter Opel is owned by Ford... and Opel is 4th I believe. When it comes to luxury vehicles the Chrysler Mybach (spelling?) is preferred right now in most middle eastern countries over Mercedes or BMWs - those are considered run of the mill vehicles.
Anyway for us greedy and mislead Americans we'll continue to look for the best value for our all too precious dollar. You on the other hand seem to have more money to blow than we do so you can go ahead and purchase as much of this fraudulent crap as you can. Have at it - you won't face much competition from us in regard to that stuff.

Hello friend. I'm certainly sorry that you've had such poor experiences with American products, but I fail to see how that relates to this thread. Nobody has advised anyone to not go with a Chinese manufacturer or vendor. I'm not sure why you would not like Cold Steel swords, they are simply blades from the same Chinese forge that supplies Paul Chen of CAS. What people have called into question is the fact that many of these separate EBay vendors use the same materials and advertisements as each other, and that some of them have a bad reputation, thus the buyer should be cautious. All of the American forges that are so highly praised here, Munetoshi, Ronin Katana, CAS, Cheness, Dynasty Forge, they all get their products from Chinese forges. The highly praised vendors of these products get them from Chinese forges. Nobody is looking down on Chinese forges, nor are they making disparaging remarks. Except for you, that is. You have been making numerous references to a single EBay vendor, then come onto this thread and blast American products. You are either a Chinese national, or you simply have something against America. Either is fine, and completely your business, but please be more courteous in your posts.

Listen im not going to argue from you, and because of your tone i doubt the rest of your post offers anything to reply to, but ill spend the time to answer your second paragraph. "The issue we take with this particular company and its affiliates and/or variations is the blatant false advertising of its products. Those who have a more thorough understanding of katana can look at these blades and know that they are NOT worth the money the company is asking for them. Let's take the sword you linked to as an example...." This is just not evident though. Where are the buyers, buying the sword and being dissapointed enough to give low feedback? where are they? your entire perception of poor quality is unfounded, as most people who have brought these swords have been very happy with them and unless you can provide evidence to the contrary then i have no reason to believe you. as for calling them "fraudulent". well, thats just sad. it shows your spite and the unruly, destructive patriotism i was talking about. the little gif videos, if you had done the research you claim, are just examples of what you can expect for any of their decent blades. they are the same videos for every item. you'll take the cold steel? ok pal see you on the battlefield Adrian: Im not disingenuous nor a chinese national. i am just speaking my mind on the subject with raw honesty, its not meant to be offensive in any way.

I love the hamon on swords..I think they are most of the fun ... However, I would be happy with a sword without a hamon "IF" that sword had something else going for it. Thus the need I have to study, ask questions and seek views on swords....I dont want to miss anything important...
