Hey Guys!! I have been looking to buy a wakizashi for some time now and i want to put my money to good use . I just found that Valiant Armoury makes what they call a Functional wakizashi and it looks really nice (i'll post pics below). The problem is that I can't seem to find any reviews on it on the net. I would like to see it's worth it money in functionality or is it just a SLO. I would be using it vigorously P.S.: if you guys have any good wake's that you know of, feel free to mention them, it be very much appreciated, specially if they are in the 24" to 30" range Thanks A lot!!

What Zach said. The pre-Sonny VA swords are functional in the sense that they're not wallhangers and can cut something, but they don't handle like swords; way I heard it, previous owner sold swords in pawn shops and people were always remarking about the weight, so he came to think that hefty equated a good sword. May not be true, but that's what I heard, and, given their often ridiculous weights (the Sword of Valor, for instance, is almost 4 3/4lbs), I'm inclined to believe it.
As for wakizashis, there's also the Munetoshi Bonsai available through SwordNArmory, as well as the recently released Munetoshi Tactical Wakizashis (available in no-hi and bo-hi). For whatever reason, SNA links don't work here, so just go to SwordNArmory, search "wakizashi", and you'll find 'em quick enough.

Well, I've heard good things about the Hanwei Tac-Wak, but the Munetoshi Tac-Wak is very new; I believe it only got released a few days ago, but if it lives up to the Munetoshi quality I've heard raved about, it ought to be a very good sword in its own right. However, I can't say which would be the better sword without seeing a side by side comparison.

One thing to note is that the Hanwei tac-wak only comes in bohi version. The Munetoshi no-bohi should be a little bit of a stronger cutter versus the Hanwei; I would not expect a huge difference in performance though given how similar they are. About the only real difference IMO is that the quality of the Hanwei would probably edge out the Munetoshi a little bit. That, and I don't really dig the serrated bit behind the tsuba on the Munetoshi...
