Did they not have the falchion as DoD not too long ago? Perhaps a sign of impending closeout?

Afoo, they had this in either late November or early December of last year. Yep, surprisingly quick back on Deal of the Day. Its a nice sword. I really like mine!

Being a relative newcomer, This was the first Deal of the Day that i was actually psyched about. I bought one without hesitation. Really looking forward to it. Now, if they ever put the Leuterit Sword up on D.O.D., i'll be all over that.

The blade on this sword is really nice. I love mine but the cross is just mehh. Edit linky: Leuterit Viking Sword - South Coast Swords

I can't say falchions are very appealing to me. But that's my opinion. I can't stand one-sided-swords.

It's an odd sword. I can't quite figure out what it's trying to be - too big for a single hander, but not really a grete sword - the grip only about 5.5 inches long - the blade has an odd geometry, and little distal taper. Overweight. It doesn't look very handy. kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=501495 at KOA.

I think it might have been meant as a TV/Movie/play proto type for a show that never came about. Once they invested the money for the R&D they decided to put it into production. 15 years ago Windlass had several pieces on their site that were small runs for that very reason, that wern't put into mass production. Bruce Brookhart also owned a few limited/trail run pieces.
Take the sword for HBOs the Tudors, a very pretty on film but the reality is it's unwieldy and doesn't lend itself toward any style of swordplay.

Actually speaking of movie swords this one reminds me a lot of the version of the Excalibur from First Knight with Richard Grere and Sean Connery.

Demonskull: If this is the same Tudor Sword I bought, it is a Townton, type XVII, blade attached to a 16th Centruy hilt. Transitional cut and thrust arrangement. I find it quite suitable for sword and buckler play (not with a partner, mind, it's quite lethal ;) ). Nddave: First Knoodle: eeeeewwwwwww. What's that I smell? Drove Connery and Gere into retirement.
