For that price I might have to go for one. Has anyone ever had them engrave the blade and if so how did it come out. I know I can take the Made in India engraving off with a couple rubs with steelwool. Are the custom engravings deeper and more permanent ?

How much longer does the sale go on for? I have to think up some suitable three-letter Latin word to get engraved on it - so far all I have is Lux (light), Dux (duke or general), Rex (king), and Pax (peace).

Sarge had his initials engraved on the blade and they did one letter on each side of the blade at the shoulders  . So be specific. But the engraving itself was nicely done and deep enough to last.
Usually the deal changes daily but the Friday deal lasts the weekend. Unless they changed it from when I started this thread

The deal lasts until midnight MRL's time which I think is Eastern.

Chris is wrong - that's the way it used to be. Now there are separate items for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. so this Pompeii Gladius sale will end at midnight tonight - Eastern standard time.

Well I hope Chris is right about the endraving anyways. I just took the plunge, I have a Albion Maintz style gladius but didn't have a Pompeii style. I ordered it engraved with the Roman numerals IX for the lost 9th legion. UT OH, I feel a display on the way.

Alright, sword bought! I finally decided against engravings - to me, this sword seems like a simple, rugged soldier's weapon, unadorned and deadly. Funny how I discovered this thread only a week ago, and my first thought was "It'd be awesome if one of the gladius went up as the deal of the day".

They seem to be going through a roman phase. Earlier it was several pirate-related products in a row, now ancient Rome. I think I see a trend. How long until medieval swords become trendy?
