Steampunk is the reason Cons have become love and hate for me... Anyone can buy a suit, a tophat, glue haphazard gears on it, and say they are some sort of uber costuming nerd.
Until they have lit their arm hair on fire hand shaping armor to dress like Boba Fett, I don't wanna hear it ;_
Steampunk was fine... Now it's just... Annoying....

love it.. love it, love it, love it...
I had, back before steampunk became huge, a lovely Victorian rooted/inspired Van Helsing style 'preacher' get up.. I had an antique bible all beat up and chained, various books, 'authentic' reliquaries, etc.. Steampunk hit, and I had people asking where I was going to put all the gears and crap... I abandoned it in disgust.

What kind of pants/trousers would match with that? I'm talking something you can just buy at the store. Or does MRL have a matching set of bottoms to match the top?

Black trews, breeks, or hose. If you want to cheat, solid black cotton pajama pants tuck in and such.

Eh, legit steampunk is pretty cool. Stuff like the recent Sherlock Holmes films are rooted pretty heavily in steampunk and they kicked ass.
Steampunk like what Jeremy described, just gluing gears onto stuff, is extremely lame.

Steampunk blows you superman loving Hogwarts washout... to suggest otherwise is to invite unbridled ridicule. You have been warned.
