Even if it were the entire period, it would still be overpriced IMO.

today we got a German Bastard Sword, but does anyone else feel its a little bit short? I heard the antique bluing rubs off easily so if anyone buys it, might want to just clean it up

I heard the antique bluing rubs off easily so if anyone buys it, might want to just clean it up It is shorter than the original, might be a good thing from a company with a reputation of whippy blades. While I’d like another few inches my blade is quite stiff and delivers powerful cuts. I am satisfied. My bluing is still in place after about 1½ years. And the Plan of the Day is to do some cutting with it this morning.

I like the fact its a shorter blade on a hand-and-a-half sword. The sword as a whole is slightly heavy, anyway. Better as it is with a shorter blade and longer hilt, imo. Fairly unique blade for a production sword, too. I've had mine for maybe five years, and the bluing is still just fine.
Cons--slightly heavy, and the long cross on the guard can hit your wrists and forearms when swinging.
Pros--comfortable hilt shape, unique blade shape, aesthetically pleasing pommel, short blade, and very effective using two-hands. Among others, of course.

Here’s my metal group after 1½ years of service. On examination the finish was thinner than I thought. It was a gradual thing that took place over time. It didn't just wipe off and nothing that I think that warrants undue concern. If in a worst case scenario there are cold blue solutions or pastes available. The photo below shows the wear on the finish that took 1½ years. After the cutting session today I notice looseness in the guard block. I tried to tighten by applying a turn on the pommel and it spun like the threads were stripped. Not good news. I thought the pommel to be one group peened on. It is threaded. And the pommel is not one group but two, one of which is a small round nut. So I took a piece of leather and a pair of slip joints and gave the nut a twist and now good as new. The wrapping on the grip is rescue tape that I put on to save the leather. No wear was evident but it is just a safety precaution.
