I received this from Kult of Athena about 3 months after ordering it...which was the noted wait time on the website.
I have only 2 other Roman era swords to compare it to, one being a spatha, the other being a Hanwei out of production Mainz gladius. The Albion is pristine and the workmanship is beyond reproach. There a peened brass nut on the pommel, the center ofcourse being steel peened over onto the brass and then filed down. The Pommel, grip and hilt are all of the same dark hardwood. There is a brass piece inset into the hilt which I have heard is historically correct. The blade is satin finished with some type of stamp about 7 cm from the hilt of one side only. The POB is 10.6 cm from the hilt. At approximately 45 cm the blade begins a drastic angle down to a spear like point. Unfortunately for the curious I will not be taking a $700 sword out back and begin hacking at cola bottles and the like. I will post pictures when I am able.
addendum
This is a well made piece. It feels a bit tight in the hand length wise-the distance between pommel and hilt would benefit from being a bit longer. The manufacturer advertises it as being "very sharp," I would describe this as sort of sharp. For almost $700 I think a scabbard would have been nice as well. Overall I am pleased with the acquisition and now I am considering the Medieval Discerner sword...maybe after ski season.
3rd addendum: After much consideration(roughly 1.5 minutes) and the end of ski season in sight...I pre-ordered the Albion Discerner...this I believe is my 10th sword in 4 months.
