Happy new year! I've actually had the pleasure of celebrating the chinese new year in Beijing. Now that's an experience I tell ya... Back home, on new years eve, fireworks are used as a festive and colorful celebratory thing. In China, they use fireworks to rid themselves of demons and bad spirits... The louder the bang, the better The greatest piece of artillery I saw was about one meter high and then some, and around six inches in diameter. The guy firing it carried it into the strees, lit the fuse and literally ran for his life. When the thing went off, it sent a ball of fire into the air with a bam which set five car alarms off. Then the ball of fire exploded, some 40-50 metres into the air, and set of eight more car alarms

Sun nien fai lok! It should be a lucky year to get a sword because the dragon represents power, strength, and good fortune!

Dragon and Dog are in conflict this year. It might just be a good year to stay home and practice jianfa in the backyard.
