this sword has been the cause of many a sleepless night while i pined for it,after i first saw it i knew i had to have one,so here is my review and first impressions of my brand spanking new 1326
i had to wait a few months for the sword as everyone seems to be buying a trim sword's, and while it is a long wait (unless you snap one off tried and true's shelf) the waiting time is more than worth it for what you get
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS ,well the sword came very well packaged with the new wood core to protect the blade, and also a very generous layer of grease,so there isn't a hint of corrosion anywhere on the blade or hilt furniture
THE FITTINGS i ordered this sword with the type j1.1 pommel, and tom supplied it with a type 2 guard and also a gorgeous green wrapped grip,i didnt ask for green any colour would have done, but tom messaged me to say one was available for it and would i like it, HELL YES i originally had plans to customise the grip, but it would be a shame to change it as i think it suits the sword so its staying (im planning a custom scabbard though, and case hardening the pommel and cross)
THE BLADE ,what can i say, it has a higher grade of finish than my other a trims,a very smooth satin polish with no sign of grind marks,i dont know if gus finished the bevels or if tom has worked some magic on them, but the bevels have a very high degree of polish, the best i've seen on a production euro they're almost mirror polished, and perfectly even,
the triple fullers are left with the forge scale (perfect for me) there's a couple of mm variation in the termination of them, this does't detract from the blade and to me adds a bit more hand worked character
HANDLING this sword just feels alive, very quick to track either single or double handed and lighter than i would have thought,i havent cut with it yet but it feels like it will sail through targets
STATS all in inches overall length 40
blade length 30 and 3 quarter
handle length 7
blade width 2 and a quarter at the cross, tapering to 1 at the start of the point
cob 4 and a half from the cross
cop 18 and a half
overall i couldn't be happier with this sword, the fit and finish is superb and i love the way it feels in the hand
a big thanks to tried and true and to gus, SUPERB SWORD grease.JPGpacking.JPGgreae 2.JPGpommel grip.JPGedge grind.JPGfull shot.JPGme.JPG
