I have a friend who's looking for a fixed blade ka-bar, but she wants an old one, not a new one. Is there a trusted source for finding and buying old or antique knives?
Thanks in advance, knife folks.
**Edit to add** She says, specifically one of the old models with a wood handle and brass pins, but not a folder, a fixed blade.

I don't know any but I'm sure you could find at least one or two good leads by checking out www.bladeforums.com. It is a very large forum and it includes a section or two about old knives. I'd also check army supply stores, if there's any around you. Maybe you could find an old Ka Bar down there. I hope this helps, good luck to your friend.

Thanks very much, Sébastien. There is an Army/Navy surplus store just up the road, I'll check there and investigate bladeforums.

I meant the blade forum, haha. The Army store is nothing too exciting.

I would try out worthpoint.com in addition to ebay. They are an auction site that sees knife traffic quite a bit.

I see a lot of fakes on ebay...I'm not sure why since Kabars are sold at such a great price. Do you have an idea of the model of the knife Luna? You can always pose the question to Toooj in the Kabar M&V section. The old kabar you are describing almost sounds like a re-ground vintage Kabar kitchen knife. (in my mind) I've never seen a fixed with wood slabs... and here I thought I seen em all

Thanks for all the infos, guys (and yea, I didn't know of a wood-handled kabar, either, I had to check a few times to make sure she didn't mean the standard stacked leather.) Maybe like this? www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-5-pin-K ... ce=message
