The Zombie tools Ferrous Wolf.....This thing is BOSSSSSS. zombietools.net/tools/When Ragnarok comes and Fenrir ravages the world, plunging us into chaos—trust us—you will need a blade of substance. With the blessings of the horned god Loki, we give you the Ferrous Wolf. A single-handed, double-edged long sword, and the first ZT blade with a fuller, this beast will slay ice giants, zombies and meth-addicted cannibals. When it came to kicking ass, the Vikings had it down to an art and a science. With their swift, shallow-hulled long boats, they meted out terror across Europe and beyond. They were an apocalyptic warrior gang crossing the seas in search of plunder, each man with a war chest, shield, helm and the Viking long sword. Our version is a 34-inch blade that is distally tapered, has a three-quarter inch fuller to reduce weight while maintaining strength, and has a full-tang handle supported with steel guard and pommel slabs. With its 28-inch blade balanced by a heavy striking pommel, the Ferrous Wolf will cut down your enemies like its your %$#@ing day job. As with all our blades, the Wolf is made from 5160 spring steel, comes with a black Kydex sheath, and has a T6 aluminum grip wrapped in black Montana leather. Total Length 34.5in (.88m) Blade Length 28in (.71m) Grip Length 4.5in (.11m) Steel Width 0.25in Weight 2.75lbs(1.25kg) Price $449.95US

I like the idea of a tactical Viking and was pretty excited to hear that Atrim was going to be making one as well. Right now I'm just holding off until I see which one I like more. Only concerns I have is the point of balance and that fact that it weights 2.75 with only a 28 inch blade. It must be pretty beefy like a Darksword in order to be that heavy.

Actually, the only thing about the sword that's really beefy is the guard and pommel, but if you look at the description, you'll see why it's rather heavy: the grip is solid aluminum wrapped in leather.

I sorta suspect it has more to do with what I presume to be a complete full-tang construction cut from an already fairly sturdy stock. Aluminum really isn't that heavy - I can't imagine it makes that much of a differance to this sword.

It reminds me of a steel sword from the Elder Scrolls games XD
I like it though. In the picture where you can see the guy holding it it looks a bit puny for a Norse-ish weapon though.

Well, a sword of this same size (the Albion Thegn) is 2lbs and has a smaller guard and wood grip, so you can see how it's easy to think that the difference lies in those two things.

Would be interested in the (distal) taper and point of balance of the sword. 2.75lb is very lively with a properly tapered blade, but will be a pain if the blade has little or no distal taper.
Would be a much better cutter if the pommel is lighter (though it may not feel as nice). Who writes these things?

It looks like, according to their description posted here, the pommel slabs are steel, not aluminium... That might change things?

Looks really cool Saito, I'm also interested in the POB and handling of this sword. When you get it I hope you give us your impressions!

That's definitely one of their cooler weapons, that's for sure. But the ZT weapon I like the most is the Spit... kind of Iklwa/Nagamaki type thing...

Anyone else notice that they seem to have changed the design a while back? I think I like it better this way, actually.

I love the new evolution of the design Most certainly an all steel grip. These guys build swords that look ready to f*ck semprini up. I've always wondered why European swords weren't made with full tangs.

That Zombie Tools "Spit" looks like a nasty piece of work to get on the wrong side of- a real zombie sticker ! Anyone got one and done a review ? It'd be interesting to see how it performs. That Viking style also looks like a good blade to send zombies off to Valhalla

Mostly because it's not strictly necessary and saves weight and material as well as giving you more options as far as your grip shape goes...
This is a pretty interesting piece. Not my cuppa tea, but it's good to see ZT going in some more traditional directions...

God I love their sword...If only they were not so expensive I might justify a reason to get one.
