Hi all, I will at some point be receiving a Tinker viking sword. I had wanted to buy a bare blade but I have found it difficult to source in the UK at a decent (cheap) price and the mounted sword with scabbard isn't all that much more. Anyways I am thinking of re-hilting the sword as it shouldn't be too difficult to un-peen the sword, although re-peening it may prove to be a challance. Anyways I have been looking for replacement sword fittings but I have hardly found any. Could I have some help on this? The only decent ones I have found are the quietpress fittings, but I remember reading that they were a bit clunky and too thick.

I know Greybeard at one time mentioned he was looking into bronze/cast furniture for the H/T line, but with the Atlantean warrior project and him recovering from rough health, not sure if that's still a reality. Certainly wouldn't hurt to poke him about it though, as if he *did* offer them, and for the iking blade in particular, i'd be selling off some things to afford it.

I had a large list of suppliers for viking hardware saved from last time i went looking for pommels and guards, all most all i found then was viking. now i go through them and most of the links are either dead or no longer have sword bits, but here is what i found. fabri-armorum.com/english/?id=hlavice.phpI dont know if Fabri actually sells ala-carte but they have come up a few times for similar questions. www.medieval-fightclub.com/categ ... &-Pommels/ Medieval fightclub seems to vary in what they have, not a lot right now. www.chevalierdauvergne.com/if you go to theatrical weapons, they have a large selection of pommels and guards. i dont think they really do viking but i remember they had a brazil nut pommel. www.windrosearmoury.com/zc/index ... h=30_64_72 they do stuff for sca swords, but may be able to help you out.

There is also the new vendor Lions Gate Armory.. their two 'demo pieces' so to speak feature at least a custom pommel for an HT longsword, and they may be able to help you there as well.

Hey thanks for the replies! I take it Greybeard and Jeffrey are forum members? I think any custom fittings are going to be a little cost prohibitive considering that the sword itself is a budget blade. Thanks for the links Theos, the Fabri Armorum pommels look pretty awful so I think I may be out of luck for the moment. I seem to remember somebody had mounted a tinker blade in the suontaka fittings.. Must find it!

John Greybeard and Jeffrey Robinson, also known as brotherbanzai, are indeed members here. Custom fittings will probably cost at least as much as the blade itself, unfortunately, yes... you may be able to cut a deal if whomever decides to do it, at least by bronze casting, goes for a mass production rather than just an one-off. If it's ground steel, that's another story.
