Now this is fantastic! A great way to see the differences. I can't believe the thickness of the Marto pommel though--intuitively it just seems too thick. Was the real sword's pommel that thick?? Clearly you can see the difference in the blades, no question about that at all.

From the photo's i have seen it was pretty big. Guessing it helped to balance the weight. Here are a few pics comparing the Marto to the Windlass. As you can tell they are very similar but the Marto has a little more weight to it but seems better balanced. As already stated when the Windlass arrived the pommel fell off. The blade was also loose and a bit wobbly. Enter duct tape the miracle tool. I placed strips of duct tape down the inside of the langlets also around both ends of the metal tube-handle. lastly after tightening the bolt? as tight as i could get it i placed tape around the threads to keep it from unscrewing as easy. I should have used lock tight i know but was too lazy to find it. Hey it works. The Windlass now is a lot solider but still not sure i would swing it around. Maybe some day some nice person will send me an Albion Atlantean . Or i could win the lottery (though that would mean i would have to play the lottery).

I am sure the Marto's pommel size is correct. My Marto Father's swordd was heavier then the cheapo one and for a display sword had very good balance, pob at the snout of the skull. Yiou can tell Windlass have clearly used moulds made from the Marto.

I am not trying to denigrate anyone's project...regardless of their source material. The fact remains that Albion had the original licensing(and present), has one of each of the original prop swords, molds and the man who actually made them was working there at his own part of Albion(The Far Side) up to the day of his death(i.e. Jody Samson). I myself have very distinct and personal insight into the making and assembly of these swords by Albion. I have seen the Marto and Windlass knock-offs. I have not seen either yours or anyone else's (including Raven Armoury's version). This by no means says that they are not worth the money one might pay for them if that is their cup of tea.
I will concede that the Albion swords are aggregiously heavy but they are not unwieldy. The props are even manageable in a static sense though they average a full pound heavier than the production versions. The fact remains however, if Albion chose to, they could lighten the swords even more through the hilt, use thinner blade stock and drop possibly two pounds off of their versions. That was not the goal however, the goal was to make a nice production version of a an iconic sword prop that featured functional aspects to the design in that they use carbon steel, slightly lightened the whole sword, used original molding, and so forth. Hence my point of legitimacy in the sense of direct sourcing and official approval.
I will amend: they are far too pricey, which is likely the most souring aspect of the Albion Conan swords...
