Take the nut to Home Depot and ask for a new one. Assuming that it's some sort of standard size, but I don't see why it wouldn't be. Edit: I stand corrected. Don't do this. D:

i checked around online but couldn't find one. I did email tinker and called hanwei but haven't heard back from them yet. from what home depot said it seems its a very unique item. i guess I could also try sonny at valiant since he uses a similar nut if I don't hear back from tinker or hanwei.

Pete asked a while back here: Some decent recommendations from our forumites viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4888pretty sure you can buy the correct size - I'd be more worried bout being able to fit the nut into the pommel recess. It's more than possible that the nut is too long or short, or thick in circumference

as of now I guess I'm at the mercy of hanwei sending me one. I talked to sonny and he said their one of a kind pieces made by hanwei. he said both his and tinker's are made by gus and are US standard, so the threads are different.

That's odd, we've heard before that they're more or less the same as fencing sword nuts. Not sure what thread that was in but I know that's what was said. Someone ordered like a lot of 20 or something, that might've been Chuck...
And you definitely can't get them at Home Depot.
A possibility may be going to Fastenal Tools; I believe they have the ability to fabricate you a nut to order, but I could be wrong. Check it out anyway. They're pretty common.

I received my nut in the mail yesterday. fits great and the metal doesn't seem as soft as my original nut.
cas is pretty cool for sending me one. you'd honestly think hanwei would pack a spare in with the sword. especially if your the type to swap blunt and edged blades constantly.
