I'm a heartbeat away from buying that Lakonian. Are these swords sapposed to be all bronze? Or did they just start out that way? Yeah, it's a done deal. Thanks for the pics :!:

Just to clarify; In the first pic the order is the Dirk, The Lakonian then the Pugio. The second and third pics are the Lakonian sheathed and drawn.

Hmm, I had a chance to try the Lakonian this weekend on pumpkins and bottles. Disappointing. It had a good edge and cut cleanly but the handle came loose on the first swing! The pommel is threaded on and it came loose right away. When I tightened it down again it didn't line up correctly and still came loose again. I'll have to try Locktiteing it or something I guess.

What's Locktiteing? I really am going to buy that beauty on the first, hows your Lakonian doing? Kinda looks like the Romans adopted a Lakonian-esque styled sword to carry around with them.

Locktite. It's a thread locker. Basically apply it to your screw heads and it keeps nuts, etc. from unscrewing. I like the Lakonian other than that. Hopefully Loctite solves the issues of the pommel and handle coming loose under light use. Sheath isn't my favorite, but its functional. Fit on it isn't great and the brown textured "leather" looks more like the hide of the endangered Naga. The sword itself is slick though. Fast, handy, and seems to cut well.

This is why I HATE screw on pommels... this is a huge and common problem with them.

You can always go extreme and use jb weld I have used it with great success on screw on pommels

I've had first hand experience problems with screw on pommels, and it is important to note that there is a difference between screw on pommels and Allen key nuts like the ones found on Atrims, Tinkers, Valiant Armory swords, and Hanwei/Tinker swords. In my experience, Allen key nuts have much less tendencies to come loose when done properly like how they are done by the manufacturers I mentioned.

Hmm, I'd like to see how one of those locks would work, heard it's possible to peen a thread. Lakonians a done deal,I'm thinking of makiing it a combo and throwing in the steel greek spear head and butt-spike, hunt down some cornel wood and round my self off a 9 footer. The bronze set is tempting too. Love that KoA.
