i always loved lotr an while i'm reading wheel of time (i'm not the guy that stops a series) i dont like, well because ive missed a book 1 and 2 and 5 and 7 but i don't havbe the idea that ive missed something important it also it is too much about feelings, i dont like that eather and there are too much problems in the book.
and they forgot elves and dwarves. how can you forget about them in an 10000 pages series.
so i've ranted enough
ps i actually liked twilight  .

In no real order...
Matrim Cauthon- My wife agrees, there are some very stunning and bizarre parallels between myself and this bloke attitude wise. A ladies man, a gambler, he reminds me of a WoT version of Deadpool almost.
Gimli - What more need be said? He is short, fat, hairy, likes to drink and will likely put an axe in your face if you give him any lip. I love the actor they chose for him.. The movie version of the character was near or better than the LotR books.
Pikel- From Salvatore's Cleric Quintet... A dwarven druid with green dyed hair/beard and a 'she-la-la'... OOO OI!

Wai... What? You've missed 4 books in the series? And the first two at that? If you start at The Dragon Reborn, you'll understand nothing. If you're going to read a series, start at the beginning. Then you can accurately claim not to like it. As to why it's "too much about feelings" might have to do with the fact that Rand Al'Thor, the central character to the Wheel of Time series, is the Dragon Reborn, the man prophesied to fight the Dark One during the Last Battle, but also the man rumored to Break the world again, throwing it into chaos and killing millions; he's effectively the harbinger of the apocalypse. That tends to lay pretty f*&king heavily on the mind. Then there's also the small, but important fact that he is a male Channeler, doomed to go insane from the usage of the tainted Saidin, the very power that makes him the feared Dragon Reborn, and you'd be hard pressed to find a person who could definitively tell you which they fear more. Roll them both into one person? People will fall into gibbering fits. Those feelings you're reading about that you claim not to like? Yeah, what you're seeing is his slow descent into an insanity and with him being one of, if not the most powerful wielder of the One Power in existence, that is something to worry about. Oh, and let's not forget that through all this he's 22 years old. And for elves and dwarves, not every fantasy series has to have them. Otherwise, all we'd be getting with fantasy novels these days are rehashed Dungeons & Dragons tales or LotR rip-offs. If that were the case, I wouldn't be as avid a reader as I am, 'cause that would be boring as hell. But if it's elves you want, there's the Finn, either race; the Aelfinn and Elfinn. Both are essentially elves, but their mind set is so foreign to human beings that they're considered evil. /Nerd Mode - OFF. j: I actually considered putting Mat on my list because he's got to be one of the funniest characters in the series, but I couldn't fit him in when I had others I could provide more info with without giving too much away. Oddly, maybe it's just my general unfamiliarity with comics, but I never would have equated him with Deadpool; now that I think about it, though it fits pretty damn accurately, minus the 4th Wall shattering.

Now i have the twisted idea of combining Deadpool and Matt for a halloween costume... XD
Yeah.. As far a judging WoT... You honestly have no right to judge any series by skipping the first two books... Especially when they are two HUGE parts. Half of the characters wouldn't even make sense at that point really.

I can picture it... Deadpool costume with twin swords on the back, Mat's amulet, scarf, hat, and ashandarei. Of course, I think a somewhat tattered long coat that looks like it's been slept in would go great, as well; really put that Mat-ish touch on it.
That's it exactly; that's actually the reason I didn't like WoT the first time I tried to get into it: I accidentally bought To The Blight, which is part TWO of tEotW that was released in an effort to gain younger readers (who apparently have short attention spans and can't read an 800 page book). I couldn't make heads or tails of it, so I took it to a used book store and didn't bother with the series again until recently (mainly because Brandon Sanderson is finishing up the series and he's my favorite author).

Haha, 3 of Sanderson's characters made it on my list: Kelsier, Vin, and Kaladin; I also own all of his adult fantasy books to date (excluding the WoT books he's done; I'm working on those). I'm also on pretty friendly terms with the man who's done most of the artwork that's appeared in his work (such as those sketches in Way of Kings). Indeed it will. It'll be interesting to see your take on the ashandarei. I've always pictured it as something along the lines of being in between a pudao and a naginata (such as the long, wide blade of a pudao, but shaped like a naginata, with a shaft length in between the two). Speaking of fantasy weapons, I have something you may like; I fancied up my Ifearnán design, which has a true fishtail pommel and a bastard of a guard.

I second that. However, he carries 1 .454 longslide and 1 13mm jackal. FYI I'm a gun guy as well as an anime fan.
My other favorites are:
Paladin Anderson-Hellsing King Bradley - Full Metal Alchemist. Sword-weilding badass. What else do you want? Alan Quartermain- League of extraordinary gentlemen Spike Speigal- Cowboy Bebop Any character ever played by Jet Li All the expendables ("warning shot.....a little low") Zatoichi - gotta love a lethal blind guy Black Dynamite- played by Michale Jai White Bullhorn- Black Dynamite ("You a cornfed fool with a lotta muscle mass, but it's time for Bullhorn ta get up in dat aaasss!")
I forgot about these guys:
Bob-lee and Earl Swagger from the Stephen Hunter books.

thought of a few more faves deadpool (of course), practically any character from the white tiger/road to wudang series but especially xuan wu (dark god of martial arts) and bai hu (god of metal and the west), and last for now samalander (no i didnt miss spell that ) from villains by necessity a book i recommend for any dragonlance fans as its almost the anti dragonlance as in the good guys win and the balance goes right out the window and its down to four villains to restore balance

for anyone looking for a somewhat different fantasy book. i reccommend markus heitz, i don't know if his books are available in the us. but he is quite unknown and my favrite fantasy writer. his best book i think are Die Legenden der Albae: Gerechter Zorn(again dont know what there name is in enbglish) which is an ordinary epic fantasy book but then seen from the vieuw of the murderous and evil dark elves who make paintings of human blood. and the books de machten des feuers and drachenkaiser whis are books about battling dragons only then in the year 1925 :?: he was actually a thriller writer so his books are something really thrilling. long post for my standars, ithink i'm exited

Mugen - Samurai Champloo Goku - Dragonball and DBZ Gohan - DBZ Hiei - Yuyu hakusho Michonne - The walking dead Ezekiel - The walking dead I would have never pegged you as a Mugen fan! (rofl) I vote vote for Conan the Cimmerian though... or Elric of Melnibone.
