Since you have a thread similar to one I was about to make, I might post in this thread instead.
I am also looking for a tough sword. It doesn't need to handle well and it doesn't need to be historically accurate in any way, but could you guys recommend me a heavy crowbar of a sword as well? I just want something that can survive wicked abuse (abuse I do not intend on putting it through, btw). I like ridiculous weapons and am looking into something under 300$. It doesn't have to be pretty, but as long as I know it could survive many years of abuse.

Also, it would be sweet if it could be shipped to/from Canada.

If you're looking for durable, up for abuse, and under $300, Starfire was mentioned before, and they *do* ship internationally.
As for price, Badger Blades seem to start just over $300, at $335.

flattening a leaf spring, easy, add heat and bend, bonfire will heat em enough to do so. if you want a crowbar with a hand guard i could knock something up out of some mining drill i have here its even octagonal just like a crow bar  but its not in any way shape or form a sword its a bar with a x guard

Does Starfire sharpen their products?
*Edit*
Also, what are other brands that sell extremely tough swords? I would prefer something single edged and of a tactical sort of design. Something with solid construction.
Should I just make my own thread to not to spin this one off it's original topic?

It's OK to use this one, I have already decided what I want, I'm just keeping this thread here on the off chance that something else comes up that interests me. I doubt I'll find anything more ideal than a badger blade. 1075 should be fine because badger blades are extremely thick already, and I'd like to put an edge on one to cut stuff if they don't already have a reasonable edge, without needing to worry too much about it getting blunt. I don't really want another sword that's blunt, I have my custom dual pole blunt sword and that's pretty damn tough already, it's very hard to bend and would probably be fine for cinder blocks since it did very well against a computer, and it's easy to repair.
I will probably make something else for smashing concrete and metal when the time comes, because it doesn't sound like a good idea to smash anything solid with any kind of sword metal.

Well if you have changed your plans and don't want to chop cinder blocks but have a good edged swoord, then Badger isn't for you. They should have very poor cutting geometry.

am I the only one who thinks that an overbuilt archaik kiriha zukuri style sword would be ideal for the op? really, 10mm thick at base with a little distal taper. the edge geometry will be pretty tough, cause of the big angle and it will be pretty classy. I'm sure huawei could pull off something like that under 300$...

There is a guy on a blade forum (unsure which one) that does destruction tests on large knifes these things take some serious abuse, I think the one I saw was a 3.5 lb monster knife (almost a short sword) that was near indestructable, not sure on the price but was impressive to see. Doh just back read a few posts and it was already mentioned, oh well I will second the idea. I would also try a visit to your local steel shop I'm sure you could find something suitable to make a nearly unbreakable sword heh you never know you might be able to sell a few.

I'll toss in here. I actually owned (briefly) a badger blades two handed sword. It may surprise you to know this, but their pommel was actually threaded into a slot in the tang, then welded there. So, Badger blades may be great for the OP, but I'd be wary of putting any large ammount of lateral force on the pommel.

Yeah, Badger Blades are probably the toughest blades available. Their swords are rather utilitarian and not exactly historical-looking (and are a tad heavy), but you can literally hack a car apart with one of their blades and it will suffer practically no damage. One of their favorite tests of durability is to take a full swing at an anvil or a rock and show you the edge afterward. At the MN Ren Faire, they actually have an anvil that was cloven in two from all the test swings taken at it.

Zombie tool maybe? In all honesty though, what you seem to be looking for is a sword straight from movies or a Chinese ebay ad. A sword that will not rust and does not to be maintain, has an edge but will cut cinder block and right through the steel blade of other swords kinda sounds very familiar to the multitude of ebay chinese katana vendor. Sure you can have a super tough blade, but any weapon, from a mace to a sword, will fail with that kind of intentional abuse. Sure you can bash cinder blocks with a really tough sword but you'redoing a job that a sword is not meant for, therefore it'll be less efficient, albeit impressive, but still, it'll break under stress eventually and sooner than if you were to use say, a war hammer.

They're tough for sure but 9260 will not be able to match zombie tools and what not, especially once you see their destructive testing. Japanese swords, for the most part, are design to do one job very well and that's slashing. it will chip against harder targets, and having tougher steel only improve the chance of not chipping against hard targets or bad cuts, but it will chip eventually.

Every blade will chip eventually, whether it's from Cheness or Zombie Tools or Badger Blades or Weyland himself. There's no such thing as a literally indestructible or maintenance-free thing.
