KoA has just posted the first arrivals of the 2011 new Cold Steel sabers.
Won't be long before my German M1852/76 and Austrian 1904 are on the way...
The tulwar and the oversized cutlass are also listed.

I can't decide which one I want more... the 1852 Prussian or the 1904 Austrian...

Haven't touched them yet, but if it was an either or proposition I'd recommend the Austrian...

What makes you think the Austrian is a better buy?

The Austrian was an original design with a 34 inch blade. The German M1852/76 is/was a downgrading of the original heavy dragoon sword in my article on mid 19th Cent sabers.
Wait a while and I letcha know. ( I ordered both of course  )

Hope you like the Austrian. I hope the tulwar doesn't actually weigh 3 lbs like KoA listed.
The only thing about the Brit 1908 is that it is actually the Indian Service version and not the English one. ( Has a shorter, straight grip instead of the big ergonomic grip.
Look forward to your impressions. Ryan said he was going to ship my Austrian today also.

Well my order arrived today and first impressions are I am not overly impressed with the Tulwar ,in fact I am rather disapointed with it . The finish seems sloppy and man is it heavy .Anyhow ill post some pics and a little more detail in the days to come as Iv gotten to know the 3 a little better .

How do the specs on the tulwar compare to the older version? www.swordforum.com/forums/showthread.php?6239You would think that native swords coming out of the various India shops would be pretty true to their heritage. I think David has mentioned the availability of originals and I know I have seen late 19th century tulwar (less than $300) not to much more than these new ones. I think I wold just be more tempted to play around with originals but a lot of people seem to frown on bashing around period swords. Its just that so many are so close to retail of borderline reproductions.

Hi there , Ill post a review ,but need to get some time to do it in the next two weeks .I dont have exact weights etc on hand ,but my initial impressions are of it being heavy in hand and the fact that it feels so poorly balanced just seems to add to that .These are my personal opinions on this piece thus far .Ill be doing a bit of a review ,but after that it will be finding a home in my brothers collection as Iv already decided not to keep this one .

Sword fan,
How do you feel about the handle on the Tulwar? I'm not wild about the way it looks but I the look of the blade is nice.

Dang! I was thinking after looking at the cold steel specs that the talwar would be a little out of balance. It's such a nice looking sword too! Well I can't wait for your review!

the 1796 has the same blade as the tulwar, but an whole different style of hilt, so if you like the blad you should look into that one as well.(i sure do myself )
