Chopchop, that big kukri certainly fits in with your name. ![:o](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) ;D I've been eyeing their stuff on eBay, but now (due to your pics [many thanks]) I must act. I sort of like the desert model too (decisions, decisions). ![8-)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) Cute little froggie. ![;)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

i dig on my ka-bar kukri, but a word of caution, make sure that you treat it as a big stupidly sharp blade I dropped it and tried to catch it and the resulting cut bled for three days (i dont believe in stiches "pain is a good teacher" ) and as such it hasnt happened again. VIVA DUCT TAPE!!!!!

I ordered mine from True Swords (@&19.98 ) few days ago, it arrived tonight but was very disappointed, firsty of all prior to ordering I asked if the blade was sharpened and the response from Evan Johnson was that the baldes are sharpened.... NOT ! it was blunt... asl the 2 small knives are missing ! The scabbard looks very cheap and it had molds ....also the handle had rusts... ![:-X](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) The minute I opened the package it smelled of rust and mold ! ![:-/](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) It looks like this was never inspected when it came from India, well this will be my last time I order from True Swords ! any way lets see how they respond ...( I asked for a full refund)

Got a quick response from True Swords, they will send a prepaid label, so will send it back, I think it was better to get a real one not an Indian made one(made by windlass cutlery), but the quality was really bad, anyway was $19.98, so you can imagine the cost...

Here is the response from True Swords that I wanted to share; Quote --"In this situation the stock received was clearly a defective model (missing parts, dull, and rusted), and not representative of the product. So if anyone of you planning to order a Kukri from True Swords go ahead it should be no problem, the product I recieved must be a rare one.

go to atlanta cutlerys website. they have bought a whole armorys worth of authentic ww2 era kukris from nepal. The basically have got a huge pile in good nick and for $80 will pick you one out of the pile, so its pot luck which you will get. Regardless you will get either at 1942, 1944 or 1945 model which is not only a proper army issue kukri, but an actual antique aswell. They sell other antique kukris aswell for slightly more....
bargain, catch them before they sell out...

I have a khukuri from Himalayan Imports, it's a 20" 55 ounce Ang Khola with a wood handle. I use it to down trees 18 inches thick, trust me this is a truley AMAZING tool. The spine on her is 5/8 of an inch thick, I'll try to post pics when I get a cam. Himalayan Imports makes the best Khukuries in the world. Trust on this. There customer service is also the best. My Khukuri cost $285, an awsome price for this knife. While chopping I hit a hardened steel nail. It chipped the edge. I asked them how I should get the chip out, and if they thought the chip might have gone into the temper. Do you know what they told me? They told me to send it back to them and they would bulid me a brand new one for free. It was my error, not a defect in the blade, and they are going to replace the entire knife. PLEASE, if you want a TRUE hand made Himalayan Khukuri, forged from Mercedes Benz leaf springs and zone hardend with a kettle of watter by a true Kami, and you want the BEST khukuri on the market, for the Best price, go with Himalayan Imports.

Figured I'd put in my $.02
I've got one of the $20 jobs... Had it for years.
BEST $20 ever spent on a knife. Got the thing shave-sharp with a little (lot) effort. I've taken it on countless camping trips and it proves itself every time. It's cut through dry wood, meat, rope, underbrush, saplings, me, leather and god knows what else. Stays sharp for a long time if you take the time to put a good edge on it.
I wasn't expecting much from such a cheap knife. What I got was great. High-carbon steel, hollow ground, and even differential tempering.
And, to parrot the others, it makes one hell of a cutter.

These things are starting to look more and more... Er... Awesome! I am starting to want one... What brand would you recommend to a Canadian who hates E-bay and prefers short time shipping? (A shipping similar to Musashi Swords)
Would cold steel be a suitable brand to do justice to this Kukri Rave?

Kukris are monsters. And cheap, too. I'd go with Khukuri House if you want a cheapie, they're still the real deal. Forged by real kami out in Nepal and I think they even have a military deal or something but then everybody claims that one. I don't know what their shipping is like, though, and I've never personally bought from them. Check 'em out, they go from $20 to several hundred dollars: www.thekhukurihouse.com/I wouldn't go with Cold Steel, myself, as I find them overpriced at best, but there are those who like them just fine. I think gunitgaurilla50 has one of their models and he seems well pleased with it. I have their LTC which is a joke. Well, I for one don't like it much, but I'm sure somebody else would think it grand. Plenty of options out there for Kukri. Even Windlass and Hanwei make 'em.

Sweet. I kind of want one for hunting and camping trips and whatnot. And I hope My Shiha will let me take one on our survival test. I don't wanna use a small knife for everything, I do that all the time as it is!
