I've been posting on the Chinese forum since joining because that's my current interest and I was purchasing a dao, but I thought I'd share pictures of my entire collection. It's mainly antiques, but I do have a few reproductions. Anyway...on to the good stuff:
Deepeeka Archer's Sword
Antique Spanish Calvary Saber (circa 1890 - 1910)
Antique middle eastern or Indian scimitar type sword (unknown country of origin & age). I bought this in England 30 years ago. The blade appears to have been sharpened quite a bit over the years (see the pic of the blade near the hilt), but the hilt is copper that was silver plated. My theory is the hilt is a replacement on an older blade...which is still razor sharp. Any other guesses about this sword are greatly appreciated.
Moroccan dagger? Probably a tourist piece...pretty but the blade has never been sharpened. Age unknown.
Antique Katana from Sulawesi. Possibly an artifact from the Japanese occupation of the island? Any guesses on this items history are appreciated. The blade is sharp, it's really nicely made...I'd hack zombies with it.
Antique Brazilian machete. Age unknown, but nicely made. Notice the pin in the hilt going through the horn.
Antique Napoleonic era French artillery officers short sword. My favorite piece...the sheath is in bad shape, but hey...it's 200 years or so old.
Reproduction Chinese dagger bought in Chinatown...cheap, but carbon steel and a nice wall hanger.
Chinese dagger from the late 1970s bought by my father when in mainland China.
Antique Filipino knife? Bought from a WWII vet who said he bought it in the Philippines in 1945.
Antique Japanese fan dagger...age unknown. Razor sharp. Any information on this piece would be appreciated.
Negrito Bolo bought by my uncle during the Vietnam war while training in the Philippines. Used for years by him to chop firewood while camping...basic, crude, tough as heck bolo! I've chopped branches, boxes, etc., too. Fun 15" blade.
Antique naval cutlass made in Sayula, Mexico. The curator of Arms from the NY Metropolitan museum of art put the sword at circa the late 1700s.
Qing Dao from Sword n Armory. Maker unknown. Small brochure that came with it indicates it's imported by Pacific Solutions and the product code is SC9121...if anyone knows anything about the manufacturer, I'd love to know more. Hefty, well constructed sword. I'm going to post a review either later tonight or tomorrow.
Anyway, thanks for letting me share!
Eric
