Im interested in purchasing a few sabres (or similar), problem is Im in the United Kingdom so most of the sellers I find are in USA or Canada.
Sometimes its easy enough ordering from across the world, though its stings with the postage costs etc and plus you cant really garantee you'll get them as Ive discoverd to my peril with a certain seller (and Im still waiting on word of when).
Just wondering if anyone knows of any European or UK etc sellers? Closer the better Obviously, most of the German etc Ive found seem quite good although I'm looking more of a Pattern 1796 Light Cavalry Sabre for example. And similiar swords to this
Would appreciate help from any one who knows Thanks

Armour Class are based in Scotland IIRC and are well thought of. Could try them!

interesting, I have found just the opposite all the reasonably priced sabers are in Europe, the pickings here are mighty slim, www.swordforum.com/forums/forumd ... usiness%29

Hi:
What are you looking for in terms of type and period saber?
There are a number of dealers on both ides of the channel who vend repros. You also have 4 major online antiques dealers from the UK you can search thru.

Hey.
Mirroring Dave, I would also ask what are you looking for in your sabre? I have not found a decent modern repro of a British 1796 yet.. All of them so far are horribly overbuilt and heavy.. None seem to realise that with a real 1796 the blade does not get thicker near the tip, but mearly wider due to heavy amounts of distal tapering.
Anyways antique 1796 sabres are pretty common here in the UK, I have 3 and can be bought easily for under £200, especially if you are not fussed about a scabbard.

well to be honest Im not too fussed on the weight etc or the total quality of them. Theyre more to be used as display items so thats why I dont want to spend too much on them.
I'd like something like a 1796 as I say or very similiar, would concider almost anything along that lines with out engravings or too rapier looking. More the cavalry look Im seeking
When you say theyre easily bought in the UK, could you give me a few examples of where? Im in Northern Ireland so there fore any auctions etc wouldnt be easily gotten to if you know what I mean.
Does this make any sense? lol

the uk law's on curved sword's make buying any factory made curved sword pretty much illegal (there were some idiot's doing bad thing's with cheap samurai sword's) so our goverment in their infinant wisdom slapped a ban on curved sword's (as if a straight blade is less lethal) it has since been ammended,so you can buy one IF it can be proven to be either hand forged or an antique that's how i was able to buy my hanwei raptor, its classed as hand forged that alone will limit you're options somewhat then again though im not sure if the law applie's to northern ireland, heres a link to the current law www.legislation.gov.uk/ukdsi/200 ... 4/contents an antique 1796 for round £200 where i'll jump on one at that price i have the cold steel 1796,and from all accounts it handles like a club compared to a genuine blade anyway stephen let us know if you get one,im partial to sabres

Haha, When I had them in stock I sold 1796 sabres for £200-£250
Anyways Check out auction houses and if you are near, go to the Birmingham militralia fair. Lots and lots of 1796 sabres there!
