*scratches head* Are you referring to the Tactical Longsword that VA made a little while ago? I don't think it's in regular production...

The "Zombie Slayer" line by VA are forged out of China, but designed by Gus. The older tacticals were made by Gus. www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=22091Mark T has an original at the bottom of the page. (I'm first in line for the Zombie Slayer )

As Ghost said... this sword is like the Signature and Practical line of swords from Valiant Armory... based of a prototype atrim made sword that the forge in China was provided to copy... and all the swords in this line will be made there out of 1060 steel. Ghost... how do you know your FIRST in line eh?

but they are coming with chapes -- if that pushes you over the edge Chris edit: btw, the black acetal grips should be similar to those we see a lot on kitchen knives. Stuff is extremely tough (hard to scratch) and really comfortable. Guitar picks - so thin but strong! Of course, the acetal come very smooth on kitchen knives most of the time...I'm not sure what sort of texture we're going to see on these Zombies Slayers. I already have a ton of paracord just in case ... The alternative name is Delrin if you want to look up the specs, applications, etc. www.jayfisher.com/Handles_Knife_ ... yl_Plastic

Does the acetal grip come leather wrapped as well? (it does, right?)
Damn I want this sword! Thing is with the baby on the way and so far nothing back from taxes I really can't justify it..yet.

don't think so. but I'm pretty sure Sonny could hook you up.
Yes, you do. Preorder sale is $280. Soon as this batch moves through customs, the set price may move right back up to 350...or higher and that's for CSS members. (I don't know, Sonny added chapes to the scabbards by popular request) Dooooooo it chris....don't kick yourself for missing out on a 20% off preorder discount.
Besides, the baby will want to cut some bottles too! (grats!) baby proofing the house...man that's gonna be tedious.

Yep. baby proofingthe house will be tricky.
If I get anything back from taxes I will try to get in on the pre order- but it's unlikely I will. Technically I get a return every year but all I actually see is a letter from the Federal Govt. advising me they've taken it all to help payoff my student loans.
One year in the last 4 I actually got some cash back... 'sigh'

Well... on the plus side... babies are little super concentrated tax deductions... so you'll likely get something back next year.

Having kids is generally regarded as a poor investment strategy.
The only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on this is that I don't have a clear picture in my mind what the other options will look like. The grip I was worried about until I realized I will probably just wrap it with hockey tape, but I still have no idea which scabbard I would pick.

I can't agree with hockey tape...lol...but I do really want to see what these acetal grips will look like. Though I don't want to bother Sonny with questions unless I actually have the funds to buy the sword- he's a busy guy and time is money in his line of work.
ShadowH- the thing about taxes is I DO get a return each year, I just never get it.. ya know? There's money coming back to me but the Govt steps in and takes it to pay the loans. Maybe with my wife and I claiming toether and claiming our child they won't be allowed to take it in the future..?

I don't expect many people here would, I'm just happy for not being crucified for suggesting it. I use it on my kayak paddle and a lot of weight equipment I use, so it feels really natural in my hand.
