"Duh" question #2: What is this 'Karma' stuff by the names all about?

It's a popularity meter, just like thumbs up on YouTube, likes on Facebook, etc. You like something somebody posts, you give them karma by clicking the big green plus sign under their karma score. Simple.

We used to be much more free flowing with it on the old forum Even guys like me were in the double digits Nah, serves no real function really. I do like +ing someone when they post up a good review, as otherwise we have no way of giving them something back. That said, Karma does nothing. ...what ever happened to review points? M.

Same here. I'd only been on the old forum for 3-4 months, but I had something like 13 karma. I think the flow's stifled because of the whole involved process you now have to go through to give karma; on the old forums, you hit "karma" and the person got a karma. Now, you hit the "+", type in a message as to why you're giving the karma, hit "submit" and then click "yes, I wanna f*#%ing increase this dude's karma already".
That said, I opted out. I usually give karma for a particularly amusing remark (hell, that's what most of 'em are and most of 'em are aimed at Dodger), an informative post, or a quality review.

We should give reviewers money. Then there would be more reviews.

I'd second that, 'cause then I could have income, but I'd still need that first sword to review. Kind of a vicious cycle.
