Yeah, Enkidu, I'm not real big on movie swords either but my experience with Windlass hasn't been bad really. I have their Mainz and it's a good enough sword tho I don't care for the plastic grip. I think these may be good but I'd like the price to come down a little. We'll see what happens when KOA gets them. I don't think there available until May or so anyhow. I do like the look of those two, Joe. They have another new one that I'm not sure if I like or not.

I happen to also like the celtic longsword... not sure about the ''antiquated'' finish, but its hard to find a celtic style sword at an affordable price. Same here, i'll wait until KOA stocks them, they'll surely come up with a more interesting price, something under 200$ at least. You probably have more experience than me with windlass stuff anyway, but i'll surely look for those in May.

I think these swords look amazing, and I usually cannot stand movie replicas. If they're as durable and well-made as their appearance, then these will be the roman swords to get. I really hope they didn't sacrifice quality for looks. If they are in fact well-made, then price isn't too bad at all, considering the amount of work that's gone into aesthetics and the scabbard.

Boy I like the look of these swords. Can't wait to see if they are as good as the pictures.

That one with the eagle hilt, I think, is a spinoff of late Roman era swords. Around, let me check, the Tetrarchy of 295-309 at least, on the statue of the Four Emperors, each Emperor holds a spatha-type sword with an eagle-headed hilt. This is obviously an art designer going "hey here's this, looks cool, why don't we knock that off with a gladius"...

Elheru Aran, Windlass had something like that a while back (with the eagle head). I really didn't care for it then. This new one I might like if it's constructed well. I'd have to know more about how it's put together.

They look good alright but I thinkthe price is inflated because they are "Officially licensed from the Focus Features film The Eagle™", and have "Full color Certificate of Authenticity" -which for us wouldn't really matter. If it's sharp enough to cut the certificate, then I think that is authentic I wonder how it's all held together

"If it's sharp enough to cut the certificate, then I think that is authentic" Haha, exactly. I just hope it's well constructed and balanced. If they are, then they'll definitely be awesome (if you like Roman swords). I just have this feeling that the 'offical license' BS is going to ruin it

Ick. More Hollywood "Roman" stuff. Dammit, why won't they make an authentic Pompeii or Fulham version?!

"They" being? Albion makes gladii that are pretty much as historically accurate as you could like, and these swords aren't *that* bad, I don't think. What's your issue exactly? The first two swords Ric posted looked fine to me, a little bit of a mix between hispanieus and Mainz types but otherwise okay.

I agree; even the third is okay if you can get past the ridiculous hilt.

They look awesome. Who cares if they aren't 100% historically accurate. As long as they're well made, cut good, they're balanced, then it's win. Not to mention the great job aesthetically. Yes, we all know Albion is excellent. But I'd be more than happy to get non-Albion. I have higher end blades - Katana. But there's tons of great blades aside from the 'Elite' brands.
If these are at least as functional and well-built as Gen2, then I'm sold personally.

They'll be available again in June or July according to Cecil. It's a fast seller and you've gotta grab it when you can.
