Me too! Got an e-mail from KC for free shipping on my next purchase too, so couldn't pass it up while it was available.

The blade shape on these is absolutely horrible. I had no idea elves were making blades for the roman army. The rest of the swords aren't too bad...though looks like they are over-using metal a bit too much. Yep, far too much hollywood influence there. They should label these roman "style" swords...

Windlass. KC's is pretty nice...blade shape is good, fittings and scabbard are fairly historically accurate too.

The windlass gladius are decent swords for the money. They are blunt and need to be sharpened. They handle better than Deepeeka but not as accurate in terms of sword/scabbard fittings and blade profile (i.e. the blade should be diamond cross section). Someone should tell Windlass to replace their sword and scabbard brass fittings with the ones from Deepeeka. All in all, decent sword for its price range. But if I want a budget but tough cutting sword, I would pick the kris cutlery gladius.
Personally the sad thing about Windlass swords in general is that if they would do some homework on sword dynamics and pay attention to historical accuracy, they can easily dominate the $300 sword market just like how Mircosoft once dominate the software industry.

Had the MRL/Windlass Mainz once. Was thinking about modifying the fittings of the sword and scabbard but decided against it and return it using KOA return policy. The quality of mine is decent for the money. No experience with the pompeii gladius though but I would guess the quality should be similar. If you don't care that much about historical accuracy, they are good swords for the money. Though a shorter handle (around 3 1/4" or 3 1/2") and a smaller pommel would improve the handling. But if you are a historical "nut" like I am, here's some guideline on improving the historical accuracy of the sword: www.larp.com/legioxx/gladhnts.html
