With a collection like yours, the zombie apocalypse would probably last less than a common cold...amazing! I'm curious, how does the Regent handle?

I had one... It handles amazing. The balance and speed is among the best swords I've ever handled... tip control is unparalleled. Its not the best cutter... its basic geometry isn't optimized for that, its a stabber/thruster... but the sword moves and performs for what it was designed amazingly.

I always love ogling the collection you've amassed, Mike. What're your thoughts on the A&A Henry V?

I am a big time fan of Mike's collection and hope to add some of the same models to my collection.

My A&A Henry V is around 10 years old (or more). It's one of the earlier ones, before they started offering a more true-to-form hollow ground blade version. Even though it costs significantly more, if I were in the market for an A&A Henry V, I would spend the extra money on the hollow ground one, or buy the Gen2 version for quite a bit less.
Really, the only reason I bought this one is that I found it on ebay for less than half what it cost new.

What Sean said. It's a big bar of steel down the middle rib. It's EXTREMELY rigid. But the hollow grind geometry makes the overall sword very "wieldy" and maybe even could be described as amazingly fast and precise for a sword with this weight and length. It's almost a rapier-like greatsword.

I work with a lady who is a talented mural artist, and she's nice to me. I had decided I wanted some sort of "reverse shadow box" type thing to mount a number of Albion swords. I came up with the idea of building a sort of "raised platform" to mount the sword holders to. Something that would suspend the swords out away from the wall. This is what I came up with. Then the artist lady hand painted the whole wall to look like distressed leather. This picture doesn't show the colors worth a damn, way too yellow as the wall is actually a sandy brown, but at least you can get the idea. Click on pic to see full-size. L to R: Yeoman, Ritter, Crecy, Knight, Landgraf, Laird, Regent, Caithness, Ringeck, Knight, Burgundian, Norman, Prince. The sword fan at the bottom of the picture contains the rest of my Type XII collection. I like these fans a lot. I have two of them and they work great for maximizing space while allowing full access to any sword. L to R in fan: ATrim Type XII.2, ATrim 1315, ATrim XII.3, ATrim 1312, ATrim XII.1 "Harley", ATrim/Christian Fletcher "Heavy XII" custom, ATrim XII.4, Albion Squireline Knightly, Original ATrim Double-fuller XII from Blade Show 2006, Under-spec ultra-thin ATrim 1315, ATrim Maker's Mark Flared Shoulders XII.

Didn't know you had a Landgraf, Mike; I've always been curious as to how those XVIIs handle. And out of curiosity, are there any noticeable handling differences between the Knight, Laird, and Caithness?

The Landgraf handles about like most other Albion longswords. Good. Each of the Albion XIIs has its own personality. They are very similar. But if you handed me one blindfolded and I could swing it a bit, I could tell which model it was.

I wasn't aware you had an XII.3, Mike. Tom's impressions are that it's fairly picky about form. What do you think about it?
Excellent collection, by the way. Love that display.
