Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to this, but I'm an avid blade fanatic, though my collection is still rather small.
Anyways, I've been looking into a 100% custom-made katana, but I can't seem to find someone that has what I'm looking for, or perhaps I just don't know what it is that I'm looking for. I'm hoping that someone(s) could help me with the specific terms I should be asking for and maybe a heads up an where I should be looking for this.
Basically, the sword is very simple, I want it all black. Oh yeah, I must be goth (not really). The concept is actually from a short novel I wrote many years back that has really become a large part of me, so I want something more real to add to my life than a book. Now, my understanding is that carbon steel has a natural grayish sheen, but not 100% black. I don't have a problem with this, but I do want it on the darker side of the color spectrum, or lack there of. Obviously the tsuba would be black, but plain, no fancy designs. Of course that also means I want the tsuka (fuchi, kasira, same, and menuki included) to be all black as well, with a traditional cloth ito. Lastly, and probably the only truly original (sorta) thing about it would be an engraving on the left side of the blade (when worn). There would be nothing special about the sheath, except all black.
Pretty simple, at least I think so, but I can't seem to find the right place to go for getting the sword crafted. The material it is actually made of is of little importance to me, but I do want it to be strong and useable (all my swords are like that). So any help in my pursuing this would be greatly appreciated. ^^
