Anybody have it? Opinions? Thoughts? I just like the look of it and am curious. I'm using the forum to attempt to build a master list of things that I want to add to my collection, since I can finally start adding to it again Thanks for any input!

Thanks a ton Eques.
I know that the Darksword one isn't historically accurate in the slightest. There is just something about it that catches my eye. It's the functional fantasy sword nut in my that likes cool design in blades. Historical accuracy just isn't a deal breaker for me. Durability and functionality are my two highpoints.
Thanks again for all the info though! I'll take a look at the link you posted!

If you like it and can afford it, by all means go for it. Is it historically accurate? Not really. Is that a dealbreaker? That's up to you. It's got a nice sort of alternate-historical Romano-Celtic-Migration Period vibe to it in my opinion, though. And DS swords, if not the most accurate, are definitely among the most tough and robust out there, so you can be certain this one will last quite a while through any beating you can give it (within reason of course )

Yea, "Looks very similar" is a nice way to put it.
I personally wouldn't buy a spatha from a company that can't spell the word "spatha" correctly on their website, but to each his own, I suppose. Darksword usually makes quite sturdy pieces.
Whatever you go for, be sure to share your impressions with us when it arrives!

I have looked at both their Spatha and their Dark Age Sword for a while now. I love their looks but the weight keeps me away.

Thanks for all the input!
As for the weight I am always struck by a line from 13th warrior
"I can't lift this!"
"Grow Stronger."
Anytime I see heavy swords I think of this lol :-p

Great point. I should have remembered that quote. Here's a karma.
