As I have been busy this past summer (work, getting back to competitive archery, moving, teaching archery, have a wife too) I have had little time for my swords. In fact I even sold 2 of my 3 awesome swords to pay for the new archery equipment, which just left me with my pride of my collection: Signature Series Kriegschwert!!!
My wife with the Kriegschwert
I actually looked up at my wall the other day, and thought, man I need to take that thing down, and clean it (as it has been hanging there for about 6 months in the scabbard). I pulled it down, drew it and... nothing. It had no blemishes whatsoever, which was hard for me to believe as we had a particularly humid weather here all summer. I took it all a part to give it a good inspection. Still nothing.
I remembered that before I put it up on the wall, that I had done a basic cleaning, but more importantly I gave it a nice sharpening using my kitchen knife stone set (I am a chef and these are not just basic stones). After remembering this, I thought "OMG!, I still haven't cut with this since I sharpened it!!!" That afternoon I packed it up and took it with me to one of my archery lessons (done on my in-laws property) and after class was over and the kiddies went inside to their next class (home school group) I set up my stand, filled the bottles up and "charged forth into battle". Man what a sweet sword! After that session I knew I had to have another VA Sword! Single handed this time. I am so glad I never thought of selling this sword!
Anybody else, have a sword that you ignored for a long time and came back to it, only to be reminded what an awesome piece of equipment it is?
