Anyone own one of these? How good is it? Compared to Hanwei, windlass?

I do not... tho I was very curious about it when it came out. I was told by Eyal of DSA that they will soon have 2-3 new Rapier styles... and I am looking forward to seeing these.

This is true.... the grip is made of some sort of resin. Its worth mentioning, at least for me, that MY problem with the Hanwei Sidesword and most of their rapiers with the plastic grip is NOT that they are plastic... its that they are HOLLOW. The tang rests inside a hollow grip with means the grip is not offering full support to the tang... a dangerous set up begging to break and fail if you actually use the sword much. The DSA Rapier, as I understand, does not have a hollow grip... the resin is in complete contact with the tang so I have no issue with it.

I can't speak for the sidesword but the rapier handles seem to be improved from what you're describing--mine grips the tang on two sides and around the two ends, and the other two sides are partially supported by what looks to be some kind of thin crosspieces. I've tried taking pictures but so far none of them have turned out...isn't there a Hanwei rep lurking the forums? Maybe he could give a little show and tell.
That said, the two halves appear to be glued together so I don't know how well it will hold up over time. The handle is also pretty heavy, which may be why they don't do them entirely solid.

No... that sounds about right... that sounds like what the 3-4 hanwei rapier grips I had looked like. Its a hollow plastic grip the meets the tang at the pommel and guard ends and also with a bit in the middle... so thats three points of contact... but the rest of the grip is hollow. Seems like a REALLY bad idea to me. Some people fill the grips with a rubber cement substance... but I think replacing it all together with a solid wood grip as Maz did is the best fix.
