Hello, I just joined this forum, I enjoy reading and researching about the Knights Templar , I order this sword and should get it this week, I want to hang it in my room with my other swords and books, I wanted something cheap but well made, I thought this was a good sword for the price. www.strongblade.com/prod/sba-dom ... sader.html

First, welcome to the forum. I wish you would have stopped in a little bit before you made your purchase and done a little more research. I've heard some rather unpleasant things concerning the blades from Strongblades. A much better choice (and much better looking imo) would have been the Signature crusader from Valiant Armoury. kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=CF408 Good luck with your purchase though, and let us know your thoughts. Be sure and post pictures, especially if you are able to remove the pommel we'll be keenly interested in what the tang looks like.

Indeed... a great many of Strongblades swords look very much like Windlass swords... but some people who have more knowledge then I do assure me they are NOT Windlass blades, but copies. I'm not a huge fan of Strongblade... I think you get what you pay for in those... which isn't a lot. There are many affordable options nowdays that cost only a little more then Strongblade but, in my opinion, offer you a lot more if you are going to USE the sword. Welcome to the forums!

First off, welcome to the forum; glad to have you. Interestingly enough, I have that model as well and did a review of it. I bought it as a possible "diamond in the rough", but wasn't too impressed. However, I got the tempered version, sharpened it, and half to admit, it's tough as nails. Here's a link to the review I did. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=53

Thanks to everyone for the information on the sword. Yea, I'm just using it to hang on my wall with my other two swords, a King Arthur and Viking, both made just for looks. A funny story aout the King Arthur sword, I bought it at a local flea market for $20.00 and I saw the same sword at a local Ren.Fair for $110.00, I couldn't believe it , I started to laugh, I didn't tell the guy at the Ren.Fair selling it, I didn't want hurt his feelings, HA !

Welcome to the SBG Templar, glad to know you. For just hanging on the wall that sword ought to serve you well. You've come to the right place to talk about and learn about swords, I've learned more here in a year than I would have thought possible. I'll look forward to seeing your posts in the future, and getting to hear your opinions.

Didn't get a chance to say HI yet. Welcome. I'm new to this forum as well. Hands down the best place I've found on the web to dialogue and glean information about anything sword related. A nice community as well. One of my ancestors was a Hospitaller out of Ireland in the Third Crusade. We still have his sword in the family and we use his heraldic crest as our family arms (although there really isn't any such thing as a "family crest"). Maybe we'll get to talk about Templar history sometime. Templars and Hospitallers were bros you know.

Thanks for the welcomes, very interesting about your family out of Ireland, I just had a familytreedna test done about a year ago, found out my father's side came from Wales as far back as 2,000 years ago. My surname was given to me from my great great grandmother, she never married and gave her maiden name to my great grandfather, that's why I had my dna tested, find out were my father's side came from and my real surname. Yes, I know alot about the Hospitaller's, that's were we get our name Hospital from today, because they were famous for treating the wounded during the Crusades. I'm reading the new Templar book right now titled "Templar Salvation", it's by the same guy that wrote "The Last Templar", it's historical fiction. It's seem's since the De Vinci Code came out, more people are interested in the Templars history and mystery. But back to swords, I enjoyed Hank Rhinehardt from Museum Replicas, shame he passed away, I have his sword videos and book, I have his Viking sword video and the history of swords video, both well done.
